American Dream or Nightmare?

I would have liked to think that in the time humans have been on this planet, that we have evolved into something smarter than your average cro magnon. True, humans have made their lives better in the long run. We were able to expand the human life expectancy from say.. 25, to almost 90+. This is a good thing, I guess. But how far is too far?
