Rev. Wright and his remarks and fury will be long forgotten by November. By then America will be too enganged in another conflict with IRAN to remember The good Rev. or anything else. Can you say $6 a gallon?
His hate speeches are delivered with the purpose of producing hate over hate if he is so into black Afro American why is blind to the atrocities that are done every single day day in and day out in Africa by african negroes who are slying their own Why is that Afro American leaders do not see that Fidel Castro's regin is constantly violating all human rights Why is the world so blind abouty the violence of Castro's government.
Why no one's ear gets to hear the cry of the Cubans that are force into prisons just for telling the truth. What Jeremiah sees or says has to do with his own well been he is a hyprocate ( I just do not know the right spell of this word butr I do know he is one and a BIG one at it, if he was to be investigated he will fall in the same path as Jessy Jackson who is known for extra marital affairs and for steling money from his church and is not contribuiting to the well been of others as a priest should.
Leades should see what is done to other and then they should inform his followers. I am a Cuban American and I constantly see how the Ladies in White in Cuba get no recognition of the message they are trying to spread, no one wants to see and in the end every body will say THEY ARE A GREAT GROUP OF WOMAN WHO DID A LOT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS that will be after they done and sacrify every thing, why not see and try to help them NOW by voicing their doings PLEASE HELP.
I'm guessing no one really listened to the whole speech. The "God damn America" was taken out of context. He was damning our government and how it is not being held accountable for it's atrocities. Our current government, (mostly pre '06 when most of the troubling laws were passed) has stripped most of the wealth, rights and power from the people and have given to the few and priveleged wealthay and corporations. Our country's seated government has slid closer and closer to fascism. If you deny this, actually study fascism and learn what it actually is.
This is what he (Wright) was damning, and so should all Americans who are supposed to BE the government, not the elite.
Get over it. We are tired of hearing the same old story over and over. My realatives came over from the old country. They didn't get welfare, food stamps, medicade, medicare, money from the government to go into business, none of the things blacks and minorities get today. My grandfather was killed in a slate quarry. My grandmother raised 7 children, the youngest 4 years of age, with no help from the government. The blacks were kept by their slave owners and now they want to be kept by the government at the expense of everyone else. get off your butt, take some pride in yourself and do your own thing.
I think Reverend Wright wants an America with no races except black people. Defending the abused is wonderful. Becoming so concerned about one race that the other races do not matter or become the subject of abuse is a completely different, and terrible, approach. He does not preach unity. He preaches separation, loud and with great clarity. His church website states "black values" repeatedly. There is no allusion or inclusion of any other races. No white people, Asian people, Native Americans, or any race except black people are mentioned. Everyone else either does not matter or is the enemy. This does not create unity. This creates racism.
I have to agree with the previous post and then some. What Rev. Wright had to say was in sympathy with the tradition of the Black church in America. Rev. Wright has, and continues to be, doing good for an inner city America that is largely forgotten by Mid America. He has welcomed many people that I know (white people) in his church with open arms to perform inner city missions. Yet no one holds John McCain accountable for the wacko comments of his vocal supporter, Pat Robertson who suggested that we ought to wack the duly elected government of Chile. I think it interesting that Barack Obama was originally castigated for being a closet Muslim (untrue) and now is being castigated for being an anti-white racist Christian. If we are looking for a cleric to be fearful about, we are looking in the wrong hemisphere!
Rev. Wright just revitalized the Republican base, and the MSM will totally miss it.
The statement "God Damn America" is viewed by many people, perhaps a third of the electorate as blasphemy. They view blasphemy as serious business, not just a cute SNL skit.
Of course, America is not in the bible, but many Christians consider this country as a divinely inspired nation.
The fact that Obama sat in church, and listened to that and similar statements without protest has just cost him millions of vote, from people who were willing to submerge their own prejudices and vote for a Black man.
Now they have a fine excuse to not do so. And the media will not notice until Nov. 5, when it will be too late.
Why is it Racism to point out that your race has been used and abused for hundreds of years? How is it Racism to be upset that your race has been used and abused for hundreds of years? How can it be Racism to identify the people who have used and abused your race for hundreds of years? Apparently there are many people who feel that if you speak up against injustice then you are the same as those who perpetrate or ignore that injustice. Rev. Wright would like America to be the land that we see in the pretty pictures, but if we don't start acknowledging that we aren't perfect, that, in fact, we have a long way to go then we won't ever make any progress racial or otherwise. Three trillion dollars for a fraudulent war but we can't provide health care for children.
Mr. Wright can say what he wishes. The fact that Obama says he feels Mr. Wright said nothing controversial tells me he agrees with him. That's enough for me. Racism is racism no matter the direction.
Let's see now...You want me to cast my vote on the basis of the comments of a religious leader who presides over a church attended by one of the candidates..???
Hell, I guess this spells doom for any Catholic candidate in any race coming in the future. This of course, is based upon the Former Nazi Brown Shirt who happens to occupy the Papal Chair at this time...
C'mon Swiftboating is sooo passe'
This lunitic, rev wright, is not only Un-American he is inciting a riotous atmosphere, catering to uneducated and misinformed people, he is setting back Civil Rights centuries, and it is not only bothersome to those who would vote for M. Obama, those words should shake every American to its core. I wish the man (wright) would pack up his hate filled vocabulary and go live with the other America haters in the radical lunacy of the middle east. How anyone could call him a rev. is beyond me. But I would like to see his explanation when he meets his maker. I would have never voted for Mr. Obama in the first place, but he does seem like a decent and intelligent man, which is why it bother me that he hasn't taken this man to the bridge and drop him off. And as far as I'm concerned all of you America haters ought to go out into the world for a year or so, compare living abroad, then lets see what your rhetoric is. That after you run as fast as you can to get back to the USA. I have and I live in Detroit.
I would expect people here to have a little more intelligence.
People (over 52% so far) are basically making the following statement with their answers. "Barack Obama should reject and repudiate his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, because his hate-filled preaching is beyond the pale." Maybe, smarter opinions prevailed in the end.
Agreed? Then, let's move on.
Now, let's break that statement down to it's essence. "In the name of politics, Barack Obama should reject and repudiate his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, because his preaching is bothering some of the people that may vote for Obama. So, they want to hear Obama say that he also dislikes his pastor's offending words." First of all, do you agree with EVERYTHING your 'pastor' says? Going a step deeper, are you disagreeing because there's a painful truth in what the pastor is saying?
So, we can safely conclude that roughly 53% (so far) here want to be lied to yet again by another politician willing to do anything to be elected. If we really wanted the truth, we would be voting for Obama to state his true opinion rather than to specifically have Obama "reject and repudiate his pastor," whether Obama actually feels that way or not.
I have to agree with the previous entry. I guess whatever the U.S. does is okay not matter what but if someone else does the same thing it isn't? I remember the days of "my country; right or wrong" and I didn't like it then and I don't like or believe it now.
"Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it."
I am a middle-aged white guy and I think that it is sad that someone who speaks the truth out loud as Pastor Wright has is being villefied as having produced "hate speech". The truth is that America has done and continues to do terrible things to people all over the world and we must start acknowledging what our political and corporate leaders are doing both here at home and elsewhere in the world. Those in control wish us to continue to blame their victims for the problems those in control cause. More and more we average Americans are seeing their own hopes and dreams slipping away. Those in control hope that we will continue to blame the weak and powerless for our distress.

How an Atheist Respond to 'God D--- America'
Submitted on March 16th, 2008 by Chuck_JohnsonI'm one of those rare libertarian conservative atheists.
I'm getting a big kick out of this.
A real reverend should say, "love your neighbor as yourself."
Wright fails on all counts.
