Kennedy and Byrd are liberal retards. Byrd is so old he cant remember his own name. Honestly, I don't the answer is term limits. I think it should be an AGE limit.
TERM LIMITS!!!
It is pathetic to see Senator Byrd, Senator Kennedy and some of them other ones who have been there forever. They all talk about creating jobs--THEY should all lead the way!!! STEP DOWN OR MANDATE TERM LIMITS--Let other people FILL THEIR JOBS_ they are all RICH ANYWAY.
I agree totally- they all want change and say and promise every thing. Nothing Changes- Hillary has had 35 years experience- McCain has had decades--Why do we still have the same problems- year after year? Why is Illegal Immigration destoying our Health Care? Just go to the Local Emergency Room. They get Free Health Care-(-Cost just gets passed on to us) You know Why some of these problems are never fixed--It's for the Latino Vote, it's for the Poor Vote--All at the expense of the ORDINARY Citizen that gets up everyday and goes to WORK.
Nobody is seriously talking impeachment. Yes, I know there is a pending resolution in the House of Representatives. I also know there are those who would love to see Bush and Cheney impeached. I doubt it will ever happen. Not with the country at war. And even Obama acknowledges we're at war.
What has our country come to? Remember what James Madison said: "Enlightened statesmen will not always be at the helm."
This is an inflammatory post. Certainly anyone with any acumen can represent our country better than what we have in office now.
Hopefully our country will show some sense and vote for change. Hopefully, integrity will count as well, either Senator Obama or Senator McCain at least have that going for them.
If you want to talk impeachment, our present VP Cheney should be the first to get the boot. The Bush administration is immoral in ways that impact many, many more lives than the Monica scandel. Indeed, what has our country come to?
I could not have expressed my own ideas better than you did! If it is Obama v McCain, I go Obama. Fresh and good face for America. I respect McCain and wish him well. However, I have to go Romney over any Democrat this time. He's the real deal. Solid.
God Bless America. Let's get someone in the office we can all gladly support as our President.
What do you expect with a wide open race (for once)? It's exciting, but are we really ready for an Independent like McCain? I agree, Obama is the guy who can best restore faith in America abroad. Maybe that's what we need right now more than anything. But then again, if we have another 9/11, I want McCain in the chair. Forget Clinton. It's time for a new family in the White House.
With respect, I don't think the characterization of the two parties is quite right.
As for the most effective way to hold a president accountable, how about the ballot box. Vote the guy out after four years. Vote in legislators more to your liking every two years. Anything else would be less than free or democratic.
I think party affiliations mean quite a bit, actually. I just wish we had better candidates!
How are we to judge or rate character of potential candidates effectively when their is not an effective way of holding the President accountable for promises, mistakes etc. once in office? How are we to vote proudly when we know that one vote does not count as one vote? Do party affiliations really mean anything. I can only see that the Democratic Party is a little more for the common man and the Republican Party is somewhat more for big business and the wealthy.
Hillary claims that her thirty five years as the cuckoled wife of a lying, cheating, impeached former president qualifies her to be our next Commander in Chief. What has our nation come to?
I keep wanting to call people "Barack" and "Hillary." And "Mitt" and "Rudy." I think some folks might be sexist when they use the first names, but we're also much less formal as a culture than we used to be. There's advantages to that -- I'm glad I don't have to wear a three-piece suit and fedora every time I walk out the door -- but it can sometimes have a coarsening effect.
Eliza, you might be right. On the other hand, have you seen the banner on Hillary Clinton's website? If it's sexist to refer to the candidate by her first name, she isn't helping.
I suspect there is also a strategic reason to refer to Sen. Clinton by her first name: it helpfully removes the negative associations some Americans have with the Clinton name.
I always used to vote Republican. then independent. Just going for the best person to be the next President.
That said, I think folks are really ready for a change, and it's not all hot air, this time! Course I thought that 4 years ago, also... And I think the best way to change will be Barack Obama.
I will also say, if Barack is the nominee I will vote for him.
If it is Hillary, against Mitt Romney, I will vote for Mitt! I find him to be the best of the Republican's and I think he would do a good job.
I really am ready for a change! My President doesn't have to have spent his life in Washington! Actually I'd rather he not! This being able to do the job from day one, tells me they know too much of the in's and out's of the job. Already have preconceived idea's of how to get over. They have done it before. And will no doubt do it again. A tiger doesn't change his stripes, after all.
Some folks get too caught up in the hype and excitement, and we end up with exactly what we have now! And it's not that he's a Republican. It's that he's a same-old, same-old type of politician! And therein lies my problems with Hillary and McCain.
And I have the greatest respect for John McCain! He gave a lot for this country! It would've been easier for death to knock on his door...And I thought he would be a good president. But I don't like his attitude these last few months. He's becoming arrogant and condescending. Maybe he does need sleep, but don't they all?
After listening to all the hyped up talk by the media and the candidates; it all comes down to when they stop talking and you think about what they say and it all amounts to nothing. They are all so disconnected from reality and what is happening to the AMERICAN FAMILY!
The media has chosen the candidates – all the candidates are advocates of change and from what we see they all are inbred Washington types who are a big part of the problems we face. As usual we'll be back to voting for what each of us feel is the lesser of two evils and business will unfortunately, go on as it does year after year. It is to bad that those we elect to represent us do not take their responsibilities seriously. It would be terrific if for once they looked out for the interests of the AMERICAN CITIZEN.
Dots, don't you think it's a little sexist to refer to all the men in the race by their surnames and the only female by her first name? Senator Clinton is not her husband. She is a strong, intelligent woman who, unfortunately for her, has had to live with the flaws of the man she married. That in itself is not unusual...we all have flaws. We all have to live with the flaws of those we love. That said, she is her own person and always has been. During her years as first lady of Arkansas, she was heavily criticized for just that, being her own person. I think it's time for us to judge her for herself, not her husband.
All things being equal (and many are), I tend to favor Obama over any of the remaining contenders. I dismiss Romney with an ever so slightly cool shrug. Ron Paul reminds me of my 8 year old telling me the alcohol is bad for me. Of course it is. Good boy. McCain may be a real choice come November, but he should schedule in a shower and some sleep time. Hillary (or should that be Senator Hillary) can't and never will shake the Clintonian tendency for prevarication. Maybe nobody will notice, and she'll win the nomination despite herself and her spouse. Edwards and Guliani, good riddance. Huckabee's only problem is Huckabee, even though he spoke my thoughts on a couple of recent developments.
If anybody is JFK or Reagan, it is far and away Barack Obama. He has proven his ability to walk the aisles, and his open face demeanor will serve us well in the rebuilding of international coalition.
This may be a shallow analysis, well, it is definitely a shallow analysis, but all remaining serious contenders are cut from the same cloth, so this is as deep as I can muster these days.
