That's all folks.
RedBlueAmerica.com comes to an end on Friday, May 9, 2008.
Ben and Joel take a few minutes in the final podcast to muse on politics, the media -- and how it's possible for a liberal and a conservative to become good friends.
In the immediate future, they'll be blogging at Infinite Monkeys and at joelmathis.blogspot.com.
Listen to their discussion below. And thanks to all of you who joined us here.

Thoughts
Every ending is a new beginning... or something
Submitted on May 9th, 2008 by BenThanks for all the good thoughts. No worries, everyone. You haven't heard the last of Joel or me. We'll be around. Check out Infinite Monkeys and Cup o' Joel. And who knows? Maybe we'll figure out a way to recreate some of the magic we conjured here.
See y'all

This preemptive shutdown cannot be tolerated without protest. Sanctions can work.
I’m saddened!
Submitted on May 9th, 2008 by HamiltonIt took me so long to find this wonderful, patriotic website. God bless Joel and Ben and Jim and anyone else that contributed to this open opportunity for political dialogue. John2000, Pablo, good luck guys and I’ve enjoyed learning from you both.
Much Respect, God bless America,

Best Thinking Both Sides
Submitted on May 9th, 2008 by RespectfulguestCan't believe I am writing this, but as someone who slants to the right, I will miss Mercy and Joel's commentary on some very important issues. In brief time here, it is an eye opener that people really do not see things as you, but in the end if discussed with respect and vigor it is a win win for all of us. That is what this site brought to the table.
With that said, I must get a parting shot. I am sure as we conduct our business today some lefty from redblue is trying to find evidence that somehow, someway the Bush Administration is responsible for bringing down our redblue site...
Take care all,
Respectfulguest
This is best message board site

Wicked fun
Submitted on May 8th, 2008 by chief28.retI told more people about this site than I care to admit, and had a blast in conversing with everyone. Ben and Joel...You guys are great!
God bless and God Bless America. She is still the best alternative around and I am proud to have been one of her guardians.

The Greatest Team Ever Assembled...
Submitted on May 8th, 2008 by FRTN500CEOI have never in my life felt so proud to be a part of something as I was with this project. Ben and Joel are the most talented, ambitious and ethical journalists on the face of the planet. Allen is a natural, resourceful and inspiring leader. RedBlueAmerica.com was a great success as far as I am concerned. We didn't have enough time to change the world, but I have no doubt that we at least put a dent in it.
As one final effort to push Ben and Joels buttons, I ask:
Is Barack Obama a Muslim?
Farewell, Ben and Joel
Submitted on May 8th, 2008 by Jim LakelyA sad end to an ambitious and excellent website. It is a shame that the plug will be pulled on Friday, just four months into the endeavor and in the middle of the most exciting presidential race in our lifetimes.
Both of you gentlemen were the perfect choices to moderate a needed conversation from all sides. Always smart, and unfailingly civil, this site -- and you guys -- will be missed.
Warm regards,
Jim
Thanks guys!
Submitted on May 8th, 2008 by John 2000This is very disappointing and very sad. It was a GREAT idea! and still is. The basic idea of the site was the ONLY reason I joined at first. You two did a fantastic job. It is too bad it had to be a job because I know you had such fun.
Right now, I am very annoyed.
ps - bye to Kozlowski too
((((((((((((((((((((((
Thanks, everyone
Submitted on May 8th, 2008 by BenIt's been a supreme honor and a pleasure to moderate RedBlueAmerica.com. I enjoyed the intellectual combat, and made some good friends in the short time I've been here.
I hope a few readers will retain some of the spirit of this site going forward. It's important to remember that disagreement doesn't have to be personal. Your opponent isn't necessarily dishonest or evil -- he just might have another point of view. It should be possible to have a vigorous fight about these vital issues and not lose sight of the fact that we are Americans who want nothing but the best for our country. So keep arguing, by all means. Keep fighting. But keep it clean.
Cheers.
I would like to say that it has been an honor gentlemen.
Submitted on May 8th, 2008 by The Big KlosowskiYou have helped enlighten me every day on this redblueamerica.com experiment. You both brought incredibly thoughtful commentary and analysis to the table, and an interesting perspective on the issues that affect us all.
You will be GREATLY missed! Good luck and godspeed.
