Submitted on April 21st, 2008 by JoelOK folks: Where do you cut spending? And how do you convince a majority of Congress to go along with those cuts, understanding that all of the programs have constituencies or they wouldn't be in the budget in the first place?

Submitted on April 21st, 2008 by rom12921There are only 2 things that can be done to balance. Raise revenue, cut spending or combination thereof. So,cutting spending is one option and, in my opinion, THE option to pursue.
Federal government spends over 3,000,000,000,000 per year; $10,000 per American. Family of four owes $40,000 for current Federal spending, not including state, local, school district, national debt or off- balance sheet liabilities like Social Security.

With "more important" it isn't an "or" question, but the answers seem to suggest "or". Cutting taxes and a balanced budget are not mutually exclusive and may be of equal importance to a voter.

Stress on the working class

Even though my mom has a boss to pays her biweekly, she is considered self employed and therefore has to pay city, state, and federal taxes. A lot of times, it buts a stress on our budget. One year we were unsure we would be able to pay at all until dad bet 10 bucks on a horse and won 2000. If he hadn't done that I'm not sure we would have been able to pay those taxes. Balancing the budget is very important for me, but taxes are just too high.

Why is the gov forever getting over? What about questions like, cutting taxes and cut spending?
When are the gov thugs going to be held accountable for being irresponsible for spending? It isnt one party over the other with this...they BOTH are horrific and continue taking from hard working Americans and tossing it down the drain for crap!
