The only possible way one could say John Stewart isn't funny is if the person is the butt of the joke or doesn't understand the jokes. Colbert was funny while on The Daily Show, but the Colbert Report has him reduced to making immature non sequiturs and relying on poorly-constructed physical comedy. John Stewart represents comedy for the informed, and he shouldn't be labeled as unfunny just because the labeler is ignorant of current events.
I know that it presents a caricature of the news, but many people (like my wife) would be otherwise uninterested in the entire process. And those who are "in the know" are not going to have their minds changed.

Colbert is very funny.

I used to be a big Stewart fan, and still am, but I like Colbert better.
If only they were actually funny...

Stewart just isn't funny and all the other ones are funny only when they aren't joking about current events.
I blame the lack of talent in Los Angeles.

Hell, you get a more realistic analysis of events from Daily show than you get from all the talking heads combined.
Black humor is an important way that we know that we are not the only ones who see what liars and scoundrels are leading us.
It educates the uneducated.
