According to some of the thoughts on here, just about anyone can stop doing a part of their JOB if it so fits their own personal moral/religious beliefs.
They think a pharmacist can refuse to sell a pill based on their religious belief.
So in theory, as a police officer, I shouldn't write a ticket for someone urinating on a wall in public, because when you have to go...you have to go, what's the problem with that?
A banker should close an account if they know a customer of their's is using drugs and that is morally wrong to them.
A public transportation driver refusing to drive because a person on the bus said "God Damnit!! The devil is my Hero!!"
A doctor refuses to operate on a patient because the patient was involved in a car accident after drinking and driving.
A school teacher refuses to teach a child because the child was born out of wedlock.
Didn't segregation end a while back? While not as extreme as allowing whites in and refusing blacks, it falls under the same principle. Not doing something based on color, creed, sex or national origin is extactly that.
But why stop at birth control? Hell, if the pharmacist is that commited to their religion stop selling life prolonging cancer medications. If God has given a person cancer, then God meant for that person to die...right? Oh and don't even get them started on HIV/AIDS medications.
