June 21, 2008: What is Barack doing today?

Today is the designated national holiday, declared and lead by proponents of Black Liberation Theology; today all black Americans are not suppose to even talk to white people. Are Barack and Michelle on the campaign trail today, or just taking the day off for a simple rest, after all it is a Saturday.

It will be an interesting day.

Today's Obama Muslim smear: 15 percent of voters (and the 8 percent who are racist)

How utterly disappointing to read about this in Politico this morning:

There is a percentage of the American electorate who will simply not vote for a black person no matter what his qualities or qualifications.

How big is that percentage? An AP-Yahoo poll conducted April 2-14 found that “about 8 percent of whites would be uncomfortable voting for a black for president.”

White guilt redux

A reader sends a private message about my blog on "white guilt." I share it in its entirety, along with some of my own thoughts:

I don't praise white guilt at all. As a matter of fact, I don't feel guilty what so ever. First of all, there is no one left alive that had anything to do with black slavery.

In praise of white guilt

I come here to praise white guilt.

White guilt -- over the sins of slavery and Jim Crow in this country -- does not have the best reputation. Among conservatives, the phrase is used sneeringly; among liberals, it's often used with self-knowing irony. Which is too bad, because I believe that white guilt is actually quite useful.

I've made this argument before, but in the wake of Barack Obama's big speech, it's worth bringing up again.
