Today, British newspaper's The Guardian revealed that the World Bank had ( since April) an internal secret report pointing at biofuel as the major cause for the global food crisis.

According to the World Bank secret report, biofuels ( specially corn) have made  global food prices rise by 75 %. The figure contradicts ( what a surprise!) the Bush Administration's claims that biofuel contribute for less than 3 % of food price increases.

Ezra Klein suggests that Obama's loss in New Hampshire makes it harder for him to justify his candidacy:

His pitch is so dependent on his ability to enlarge the Democratic coalition and attract new voters that a failure to do so, or a failure to do so in large enough numbers, actually strikes at the heart of his candidacy.

While I was settled in last night with a warm laptop and Iowa caucus returns, the Kansas Jayhawks went out and won the Orange Bowl.

I'm not an alumni, but I do live in Lawrence. And it's been kind of astonishing what a winning football team can do for the pep in a town's step.
