Are the Democrats growing a backbone?

It certainly seems like it, and should have happen a couple of years ago.

Under the helm of Nancy Pelosi, congress voted  to cut off the endless pit of Iraq's war expenditure.

Further,  the dems want a new GI bill to be financed by a tax for people with an income higher than One million a year.

The troops would also benefit from shorter tour of duties in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The congresswoman, her partner, the military and 'Don't ask, don't tell'

It's hard to know why we're treated to the 1,000-word scoop in the Politico this morning, or what to make of it:

Prior to the Easter recess, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was forced to intervene with Defense Secretary Robert Gates in order to get Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin’s domestic partner on a military flight for a congressional fact-finding trip to Europe.

Don't let Congress off too easily

I'm not the only one grumbling about the lack of unemployment and food stamp aid in the new stimulus package. Throw in the fact that Harry Reid will let Republicans filibuster easily but drops the hammer on Democrats, and you now have disgruntled folks on the left, like Chris Hayes, saying the Democratic Congress is a failure.

Finally, details about economic stimulus

Looks like a stimulus deal has been struck:

House leaders and the White House on Thursday reached a tentative agreement on an economic stimulus package of roughly $150 million that would pay stipends of $300 to $1,200 per family and provide tax incentives for businesses to encourage spending.
