The New York Times reminds us today that the Army is in danger of cracking up over the strain of the Iraq war.

The New York Times reports this morning about how the Army's captains -- the linchpins of the war effort -- are getting out in droves:

“I have served my time; I’ve done two tours in Iraq,” said Capt. Kirkner Bailey, 26, of the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment in Mosul.

I was just asking about the wisdom of changing commanders in Iraq when the war is still going. Now there's further evidence that personnel shifts hurt the effort. Apparently, it hinders the ability of lower-ranking officers to hire Iraqis and put money toward reconstruction efforts.
