I know, I know: It's cheating to stick up a Colbert clip and call it a blog. But in this case, Colbert does the nation a service explaining why the low unemployment rate is a bogus statistic.

This isn't good:

An unusually large share of workers have been out a job for more than six months even as overall unemployment has remained low, a little-noted weakness in the labor market that analysts said threatens to intensify the impact of the unfolding economic downturn.

The good news? Democrats say they want to work with Republicans on stimulating the economy.
