In the aftermath of losing three special elections, in once solidly Republicans Districts. The 1st one was in Illinois ( former seat of Speaker Hastert), the 2nd one in Mississippi and the 3rd one in Louisiana.
This is how Rep. Tom Davis voices his concerns in a memo he just sent to the GOP's leadership:

Under the helm of Nancy Pelosi, congress voted to cut off the endless pit of Iraq's war expenditure.
Further, the dems want a new GI bill to be financed by a tax for people with an income higher than One million a year.
The troops would also benefit from shorter tour of duties in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Was Pres. Bush's " Brain" wrong again?
Posted 28 weeks 5 days ago byWhen he predicted a GOP's majority lasting for decades, Karl Rove, the " architect " of President's Bush double wins of the White House's bid, was under the impression that the Democrats would belong to political history . He was convinced that his efforts to build a permanent majority for the GOP would be a success.
Guess what, the political wizzard had it wrong again, just like in 2006! The GOP is taking a " stomping " in the South ( Louisiana & Mississipi).
Can President Bush be a peacemaker in the Middle-East? After all he claims to be a " peace man".

After almost 8 years in office, and very little to show for in term of a renew peace process between Israel & the Palestinians, President Bush is going to the region to celebrate the 60 th birthday of the Jewish state. He will reiterate America's unconditional support for Israel.
However, in the twilight of his term, is it just a symbolic trip or can Pres. Bush get something practical accomplished?
