Policy of deception: Political appointees were spinning climate change studies in NASA's press office.

You have to give them that, the Bush administration has been consistent and relentless on spinning anything from the war in Iraq, to the state of the economy and of course the " prospect  of peace" in the Middle-East.

It seems now, that this logic of deception and spin was at play in the context of science and climate change as well.

Senator Obama leaves the Trinity United Church.

He had been a member of the Chicago Church for the past 20 years.

Senator Obama made the decision yesterday in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks made by the Church's pastor Rev. Wright, and more recently  racially loaded comments from a visiting Catholic priest.

This is what Sen. Obama said yesterday about his decision:

Could Libertarians be the spoilers for Sen. McCain and the GOP?

Remember how Ralph Nader's votes took the 2000 Presidential election away from Al Gore?

Well, it could happen again, but this time around in favor of the Democrats.

At they Denver's convention, this week-end, the Libertarians have picked former Republican Congressman Bob Barr to be its Presidential candidate.

He will likely get a lot of the votes that went to Ron Paul during the Republican primaries. It will not be a very high percentage of the vote, but it could reach up to 2 or 3 %.

Senator McCain is MIA on the new GI bill.

Senator McCain claims to care and support the troops, yet he is Missing In Action when it comes to voting for a new GI bill.

Last week, on Thursday, the Senate passed the 21th Century GI bill, expanding educational benefits for veterans who joined the service after September 11 2001. The bill was sponsored, in a by-partisan way, by Sen. Webb, Sen. Hagel and Sen. Lautenberg.

The international community should crack down on Burma's Junta.

The military dictatorship ruling Burma is still preventing most international help to come to the rescue of more than 2 million survivors.

The action of the Junta qualify as " crimes against humanity ", as defined by the UN charter.

The cyclone already killed 30,000 with another 30,000 missing. With food in short supply and disease such as cholera likely to occure, the international community should send troops and take on Burma's criminal rulers before million of people are dead.
