Charles Krauthammer bemoans identity politics in the Democratic Party:

Race, age and gender. Is this campaign about anything else?

Nationally, the older white woman -- Clinton -- carries the senior vote, the white vote and the women's vote. The younger black man -- Obama -- carries the youth vote, the black vote and the male vote.

Mike Huckabee had a very funny appearance on Saturday Night Live last night. Good humor and self-effacement are nice qualities in Huckabee. Knowing when to exit? Eh... not so much. But as the MSNBC headline put it, Huckabee "gets the joke." Do his supporters?

Why? Because Mike Huckabee, theocratic presidential candidate, will never be Mike Huckabee, theocratic president. At best, he'll be Mike Huckabee, theocratic vice president -- not in Cheney fashion, but more in Quayle fashion, given a few government commissions to look after and basically kept out of public view except for the occasional gaffe.

That's my prediction, anyway. So he's not worth the time, because he's an easy takedown.

Barack Obama spoke this morning from the pulpit at Martin Luther King's church -- leading to suggestions of hypocrisy on the right and tempered discomfort from some quarters on the left.

Both reactions are silly. Barack Obama isn't Mike Huckabee.

The correct answer, of course, is Bill and Hillary Clinton working in league with CNN and the Council on Foreign Relations. But Conan O'Brien and Stephen Colbert have different ideas.
