My friends at the Pope Center for Higher Education raise a most diabolical question today: Why go to college? Why, indeed? Too many people are going to college now. We -- and by "we," I really mean the federal government -- shouldn't encourage more of them.

How to honor the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre

Time magazine reports today that "a year after the deadliest shooting in America, when a sad and angry English major killed 32 people and himself at the Blacksburg campus of Virginia Tech, only modest changes have been made to the country's gun control laws." Is that so wrong? Maybe gun control is a phony solution -- a bandaid -- to the much deeper and unsolvable problem of evil.

My degree gets more worthless by the day

UC San Diego is a fine university in an unbeatable location with typically P.C. courses and occasionally idiotic graduation requirements. So I don't know why this interview with a UCSD student should irritate me as much as it does.
