Senator Barack Obama has captured the world's attention unlike almost any other political figure of the era in which we live. However, despite all the theatrics surrounding the candidate and the almost messianic adoration displayed on the part of his followers, very few can possible tell you what he actually believes other than in "change", which, though sounding like everything you ever dreamed of, can actually consist of the stuff of nightmares.

Picking up where I left off here, there are still several interesting aspects about Obama's Wright is Wrong press conference this week that are worth unpacking. A reporter helpfully picked up on Obama's theme, asking how this might be yet another "distraction" for his messianic campaign.

I would like to talk about Barack Obama's grandmother.

I have nothing against the woman, understand. Obama seems to regard her fondly, even if he thinks she has sometimes-retrograde racial opinions. Certainly, he wouldn't disown her. But this week, he did disown Jeremiah Wright -- and, in so doing, fell straight into the Consistency Trap.

Even at this late hour, the blogosphere remains abuzz over Barack Obama's break with his long-time pastor Jeremiah Wright. What's next? Who knows?

Not enough here has been written about Obama's fragging of Rev. Jeremiah Wright. His press conference was a festival of hole digging, distraction (something Obama usually decries), and ... well ... outright lies.
