New York, New York: A final thought on the Spitzer scandal

A few months ago, the attorney general of my state -- Paul Morrison -- quit his job after being caught in an affair that suggested he'd abused his power in his previous job, as a county prosecutor.

Never heard of him, or the affair? I'm not surprised. Kansas ain't New York, after all.

Think about it: We've spent most of the week transfixed by the details of a scandal involving a politician whose duties have nothing to do with the lives of people in 49 of the 50 states.

OK, I'm a hypocrite.

I've spent the last few days feeling some disdain for all the Wall Street traders wallowing in schadenfreude over Spitzer's downfall. Unseemly, I thought.

Then I read this:

Tehran's police chief, Reza Zarei, has been arrested after he was found nude in a local brothel with six naked prostitutes, the Farda news website reported Wednesday.
