How utterly disappointing to read about this in Politico this morning:

There is a percentage of the American electorate who will simply not vote for a black person no matter what his qualities or qualifications.

How big is that percentage? An AP-Yahoo poll conducted April 2-14 found that “about 8 percent of whites would be uncomfortable voting for a black for president.”

I thought we'd get to discontinue our tracking of the hints and allegations that Barack Obama is a secret Muslim when the Jeremiah Wright controversy started up. But it appears that the idea has taken root among a not-insignificant portion of the public:

Well I guess it's official. The Barack Obama-as-Muslim smear has now gone mainstream.

The Weekly Standard's Michael Goldfarb doesn't like the ad above, which turns John McCain's last name into "McSame" -- as in McSame as George W. Bush.

Luckily, Goldfarb has a response ad ready:
