Gas Tax Holiday--Are You Kidding?

This is a cross post with my word press blog.

OMG! McCain has offered a solution to the high cost of gas, that is a summer holiday from the Federal tax on gasoline. But wait, Clinton is offering the same proposal. Thinking…….that alone should tell the voter something…Dem and Repub thinking alike……now that should also show how much change their would be in Washington if either were elected.

Presidential Press Conference--29 Apr 08

The Prez has a press meeting to answer the questions on the economy.  It was the typical affair his always are.

On the high fuel costs--Congress fault because they will not vote for drilling in ANWAR.

On high energy costs--Congress fault because of their anti-nuke stands

On high food costs--Congress fault because of the farm bill

on mortgage problems--Congress fault because they do not embrace his economic policies

A New Game In Iraq

This is a re-post from my blog studies and observations.  It is time to let these people play their games without involving out troops.

Burning Bridges?

To me, it appears that the Clinton's are burning their bridges with the Black voter.  Both Hill & Bill are alienating their strongest electoral base.  If things go bad for her at the convention and she puts up a knock down fight for the nomination, then the black voter will desert the party.  The young will not vote and McCain will win the general.  The Clinton's have depended on the Black vote for all these years and they are losing that support slowly but slowly.  It maybe difficult to get it back after all the stuff of this primary season.

A Surprise Election Statement

I was doing a little research last night for an article I am writing and I came upon this statement about the 2008 election.  In a word, surprise.  This is a source that I would have never thought would be so accomadating to the electoral system.

Colombia Free Trade Agreement

Our president has sent this to Congress trying to force a vote on it and with the Dems in total disarray, he is hoping that it will some how slip past in a vote.  At his press conference on the agreement he stated all the "good" things that Uribe, president of Colombia has done since he has been in office.  But he, Bush, failed to mention a few things.  Like over 400 union activists have been killed since Uribe has been president.  This year alone 11 union members have been killed.  The paramilitary units have been controlled a bit, but there is evidence t

The Iraqi Benchmarks

I watched the two days of testimony by Patraeus and Crocker...Ok, I am a political geek.....but I wanted to hear the answers for myself and not depend on a 20 second sound bite by the evening news.  I heard two things that stuck in my mind.

At the Senate Armed Forces hearings Amb. Crocker told, when asked, that the Iraqi government had met 12 of the 18 benchmarks that it had been given before the "surge"  (I dislike that word, a more accurate word would have been "edscalation", but that would not have been political correct)

Iraq: A Fantasy In The Making

This week the general of all generals, Patraeus, will be in Washington to give his dance to Congress.  We have all had our opinions, but the Repubs will do a lot of back slapping and the Dems may do some face slapping.

In his radio address Sen. Biden has said that there are some tough questions that the Congress want direct answers.  Sorry to say, but the Congress has been about as sterile as a mule and it will be worth watching to see if these people are ca[pable of beoing tough on anyone.
