Recently courts ruled that it was OK to curse out cops and give them the middle finger due to "freedom of speech". Do I have the same freedom to call a homosexual couple faggot or a back man a nigger in the streets?

If I do so and get assaulted can I sue them for everything that they are worth or will I get prosecuted under hate-crime laws?

Is it legal to hate cops but illegal to hate homosexuals and minorities?

Just curious, but was the term POTUS in popular use before obama? I don't think i've seen that abbreviation used before. I certainly never used it myself, i usually just say 'the president' or refer to them by last name. Just wondering when that started.

Harvard U. has announced that Elizabeth Warren will not be teaching law classes this Fall.
And the POTUS has about 10 days to make a recess appointment to put her in charge of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

In reading Dr Sowell's commentary and books over the years, I have been encouraged by his practical parsing of words communicating economic concepts in ways most people can understand. The underlying joy in his commentary seems celebratory of the American economic system with an occasional, well-reasoned criticism. His observation, analysis and political thoughts culminate to support American ideals of freedom; mainly the economic kind.

However, I've noticed a tone lately which is summarized in this American thinker blog. When I read this I was thinking. Yep I noticed that too...

In my previous life working for NY State, I visited New Orleans.
It was a short visit,but I wanted to adopt the city.
I recruited students from the great Tulane U...a university with a long,postive tradition in higher learning and research.
Any blogger here,like the esteemed Gary,who calls for the dismantling of higher education is in danger of being called delirious, and should be ignored.

According to some across the political spectrum, Novembers midterm elections could be a bloodbath for the Democrats threatening their domination in congress loosing seats in both the House of Reps and the Senate. This is really no surprise is it?

The disapproval ratings for the POTUS always include all pollees...GOP,Dem.and independent identifiers.
But if you segment out the Dems., his approval rating is still 74%, compared to the GOP 16%. Independents come in at 34% approval.

So keep this in mind when using Obama's favorables/unfavorables.

And a UBuffalo political scientist's model suggests the GOP will flip the House,winning 59 seats.
What a mess that will make!
The party of NA,NA will defund Obamacare,and make its' implementation impossible.
It will defund the finance reform bill.

The NYT yesterday had a long story on the increase in the belief in reincarnation.
Perhaps this picture really indicates past lives.
The Hindu belief is that our soul, if it is not whole or postive,will be reincarnated as often as necessary until it is whole or positive.
In my case perhaps,if my soul is saturated with liberal dna,it may have to continually be reincarnated until I reach a stage of nirvana,and attend a Beck rally.

The POTUS had all the right words last night.
The US has accomplished our goals in Iraq,and will keep 50k troops,plus contractors, in the country at least for another year.

He gave praise for Bush 2 for invading Iraq;and gave good deserving praise to our troops.

What he didn't say last night is the real cost of our mis-adventure in Iraq. To wit, 4,000 dead US troops;35K wounded;100,000 estimated Iraqis dead;estimated several million Iraqis leaving their country;a cost of over $1 trillion dollars;several billions missing or stolen within Iraq; and the emboldenment of Iran.

Dolores Huerta tells school children that conservatives HATE Latinos. She praises Hugo Chavez. She says that safe housing and transportation are "rights". She says that all workers deserve to get paid every dollar they earn, whether they are documented or not.
