Submitted on July 8th, 2009 by garyganuI agree that the Huff Post article was in poor taste. However, most everything in today's popular culture is in poor taste and is quite offensive to me.
Why do we only notice when the offense is directed squarely at Palin and her family.
I am offended when I am at a McDonald's and teenagers are loudly over-using offensive language such as b*itch, ni*gger, mother*f*cker, wh*ore, etc. This drives me nuts yet it is commonplace and nobody but me seems to be offended. At least no-one says anything about it.
Also, I am extremely offended by the numerous cars, trucks and motorcycles that have modified their exhaust to make them very, very loud and offensive. This modification often costs the owner anywhere between 200 and 700 dollars and it is illegal, inconsiderate and offensive. Why does everyone grit their teeth and look the other way when these noisemakers roar down their streets.
Also, when I go to the gas station, there always seems to be a car blasting his amplified music. Sometimes they have removed their back seat and replaced it with a gigantic set of speakers. These type of modifications to their stereo systems often costs thousands of dollars. The bass sound is so loud that it sometimes vibrates my car. The lyrics, if understandable, often contain the most vile language as described above.
I am offended by all of these things. They are all illegal, inconsiderate and offensive. Why is their no outrage.
Why is this offensive public behaviour allowed to continue unchallenged?
I would prefer an offensive article about Palin rather than being forced to listen to offensive sounds and words that I can not escape because they exist in public places at extremely high decibel levels. These sounds even find there way into my home through my closed windows.
There must be a way to fight back, but I don't know what it is and I'm at my wits end.
I can always turn off the TV or choose not to read an offensive article about Palin, but this other stuff permeates my daily existence. How do i make it stop?

That was a horrid thing
Submitted on July 6th, 2009 by BeoThat was a horrid thing that McCain said. Unforgiveable for a person in his position to make comments about a young girl. The comments made during the most recent campaign about Chelsea were made by Obama supporters. It was considered within bounds because she was adult and also out there campaigning, thereby removing the protections generally given to children of pols.
It was interesting that the focus on the Palin girls was sexual. The oldest girl who made one of life's most common mistakes was cruelly targeted. I wonder if the next campaign will go after kids even worse now that we have accepted as a society that nothing is off limits. Maybe since they attacked her for getting pregnant, they will investigate to see if any of the children of the next generation of politicians ever got an abortion. Why not, given the green light that was given to exploiting a pregnancy, why not a trminated pregnancy? Wasn't the same "sexual crime" committed? I am not advocating for this, but we are headed this way when we allow children to be condemned during a political campaign.
Incidentally, this kind of trash never would have been hurled at the Obama girls whether or not one of them got pregnant. It NEVER would have been allowed, especially where 70% of black babies, including Obama, is born out of wedlock. Obama's father, after all, was already married when Barry's mother got pregnant. Didn't hear much about that, either. We all know there is a whole different standard when it comes to the ONE.What am I thinking! Many things are off limits. Remember how Obama scolded the press for picking on Michelle and the press acquiesced even though she was a legit target as soon as she went out on the campaign trail and started making ridiculous comments. But, Obama made it clear that she was off limits and, by golly, the press obliged (of course)

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno."
Rush made a comment or two of poor taste about Chelsea's appearance compared to WH white house dog.
But overall, she was out-of-bounds, by agreement, with reporters.
During the primary last year, Chelsea was attacked far more often by the left media and bloggers. Hillary was the one pounded the most again by the left; since they had made up their mind about their man. Dick Morris pounded her (the Clintons) the most relentlessly, but it really wasn't a sexual basis.
Palin, on the other hand, has taken it non stop for the past 10 months and mostly with sexual connotations. Even most of Fox finds more subtle methods of pulling her down.

The difference was that there was a wall of shame created by the women's organization. Influential women from these groups tried to cover her back. They did not do this for Palin merely because they did not like her. They did not like what she stood for and she didn't fit their mold of a woman worth supporting. They not only abandoned her but sent a message to all women that in order to have their backing and support you have to be a liberal and have to believe in abortion and lesbianism. This is the message they sent to millions of women who do not buy into the super liberal agenda. That was the most disappointing thing to me. I always thought that women's groups were there to protect a women's right to run for office or a job without being discriminated against. I no longer think that. They will only support women who support their own narrow agenda.

Take Mrs. Palin out of the picture, or not if you wish; only the left hates enough to attack disabled children. I really find it disturbing that you chose to defend this behavior. We are not talking about sexism here; we are talking about evil, vile pathetic hate. I also disagree about the overall level of ridicule Mrs. Clinton has received in her private life and political career. You are correct that the media all out attacked, but only after Mrs. Clinton had the audacity to compete with the “One” for the Democratic nomination for President. So yes, I agree, her treatment was vile as well. It was unfair and wrong and it came from the same left that hates and attacks defenseless disabled babies.

Of course Sarah hasn't been in the spotlight as as long but no one received the hate from the righties and MEDIA like Hillary Clinton which was most noticeable when Hillary ran for a male dominated presidency. Did you throw up then ?

She was alluding to the innocence and guileless nature of these children. Wow. I cannot understand how the left can get so low as to make fun of any of her children, never mind a child such as Trig. Who was it said that we should all become as little children?
