Posted 5 weeks 4 days ago byWell, come this Wednesday we will see Obama and McCain have their final debate. Just a few questions to you all out their in RedBlue land.
1) Will you watch it?
2) How good do you think this debate will be?
3) Who do you think this next debate will help the most?
4) what questions should be asked.
5) How would you moderate it?
6) Could McCain close the gap with this debate?

Submitted on October 16th, 2008 by John 2000i think the 'impeach' word was a grainy attempt to be the first on rba to mention impeaching Obama. (i have read it elsewhere) It may come up over the next few months, but I won't be the first here to say it. And besides, grainy already alluded to it.

Submitted on October 15th, 2008 by BeoSorry to burst your Obama bubble, but if you impeach the President, you will have VP Cheney. The president-elect still does not take the reins until January 20th , no matter what happens to Bush. There is a chain of command set by the Constitution. No matter what, the Bush administration is in power until the term is over.

Submitted on October 15th, 2008 by John 2000his handlers now who totally own him ... cuz believe they know ALL about him ... can keep him in check with their ownership knowledge.
If he steps out of line they carry the threat, and too much crap from him, they will destroy him.
It is a common scenario in our presidential politics ... look at what happens to them in their 2nd terms going back many years.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a president that was independent (not owned)?
Now maybe in this hyper-crisis mode of American destiny molding things will happen even faster and the crises will become extreme right out of the gate. Nothing will surprise me regarding this and the many mysteries of Mr. Obama, World Citizen and Chosen One at Large.
I can't help my self...

Skye Rivers I think you missed the point
Submitted on October 14th, 2008 by AnonymousThis isn't a place to take thought lightly. What is said here can alter someone's vote. I wouldn't doubt that their are visitors here that read this and consider some of thoughts here.
Think of this place as a school. We are all at times, the "teacher" because we all have something to contribute. I learned this from my 3 hour long bible class i'm taking. We discuss the readings in deep. I see perspectives on the bible that I never even fathomed. Like wise, I show others a new way of looking at the bible.
I know church and state are different. However, you can apply the same idea here. We love our nation and have a passion to talk about it's mechanics.
You have a great voice. This is one of the few nations where you get to exercise that wonderful voice of yours. Even better! you can actually say what is on your mind! Your thoughts are important, is what I'm trying to get at here. So don't think it doesn't matter, because it does. If anything, the very nature of questioning of what is and is not in relationship to our government is the most American thing anyone of us could do. The best part is, it's the least we can do. That and voting.
Good night, god bless you all.

I suggested that after copying and pasting under the name he wants to use that he could erase the original post which he inadvertantly signed as anonymous. I would never ask Kevin to erase his thoughts as they are very illuminating. Sorry for the misunderstanding here. Hope this clarifies what I meant by "erase"

1. Maybe, may play Halo
2. Not good, I know all I need from candidate websites and Saddleback forum.
3. Help McCain
4. More Ifill-style leading questions which undermine conservative positions would be my guess or hell just use trivial pursuit questions.

After all is said and done
Submitted on October 14th, 2008 by AnonymousSkye, After all is said and done, it might just end up that the debate we carry out here each and everyday may have most closely represented the feelings and thoughts of all Americans of this era.
Most of us are just typical Americans who care what direction our country is heading in and just simply enjoy being able to talk about it.
Ironguy, for me, each debate carries the same kind of excitement as a prize fight. I'm for the guy with the longest arms.
You know what cracks me up
Submitted on October 14th, 2008 by Skye RiversWe all sit here and blog blog blog... then give thoughts thoughts thoughts... many of them great! But you know what, at the end of the day... it's all for naught. Our voices will never be heard, only to us... so why bother bantering ... is it for our 2 minutes of RBA fame or what.. Why do we do this... does anyone outside of us what 10 care? Just a thought......... a penny at that.
A number of voters want to
Submitted on October 14th, 2008 by BeoA number of voters want to see businesses taxed thinking that a result will be lower taxes for them as individuals. This is a natural reaction to want to tax businesses as they are seen to have a lot more money than the average citizen.
However, the ramifications of taxing businesses has not been fully explained to voters. If business can move to Ireland and pay 20% less in taxes, then the business will move there or to other countries which will offer them tax incentives not to mention lower employee costs.
A secondary effect of this would actually be less taxes for the U.S. and hence less revenues for the treasury. This means that taxes eventually will have to be raised on the average citizen to cover the loss. We will lose not only the added tax that we sought, but also the original taxes that the business was paying.
This in turn will cause a rise in property taxes as well because the buildings also will not be paying taxes. The layoffs that will be caused will also cost the government in lost income taxes and expenditures for unemployment insurance.
I do not own a business so I do not have a vested interest either way. i am also retired so unemployment is not a problem for me. I am trying to analyze here that raising taxes on business can have a detrimental effect all around.
I cannot help but wonder if the stock market is so erratic because investors are afraid that business will be negatively affected by Obama's tax strategy.
We are all disgusted with the present Wall Street debacle and there is plenty of blame as we have discussed on other blogs. I would not like to see a knee jerk reaction to this by punishing all businesses, even those who operate above board and provide jobs for our nation.
McCain tactics
Submitted on October 14th, 2008 by rom12921When accused of tax-breaks for corporations or $4 billion for big oil.
Response: What Senator Obama says is true... I want corporations to stay in this country so jobs stay in this country. Lowering tax rates on business will benefit the middle-class with Good paying jobs, good benefits and help people pay their mortgages, send their kids to college and live a more secure and fulfilling life. What voters need to ask is why Senator Obama wants to raise taxes on business and hurt middle-class American families trying to make ends meet.
The tactic is simple. Everything McCain proposes is to help middle-class families make ends meet, then ask why does Senator Obama want to hurt families and this country.
It will be boring
Submitted on October 14th, 2008 by PabloMcCain has a golden opportunity one more time. But McCain will not take it.
Obama is so tied to ACORN and the Voting fraud that its just not even worth a small chuckle.
McCain should have done lots of things but he keeps dropping the ball.
Thus I expect that this debate will be a repeat.
McCain should question Obama's US citizenship and how that is applied legally to the Office of President.
McCain should really go after Obama's Spread the wealth idealology which can effect people under $250,000 if Obama has his way. Which means only people getting any help are people who earn less than $23,000.
Simply list all the criminals and Anti American associations that Obama has tied to not only his presidential campaign but have suggested that they would be frequent visitors to the White House. I would start with William Ayres and Antonio Rezko and simply go down the line. He should even write the names down on a piece of paper and read them because its that important.
Challege that Obama may not have won the DNC elections because of Voter fraud.
Show how Obama tried to give ACRON billions of tax payer dollars when the bailout package was being worked!
McCain also needs to say, I knew the first package was going to fail and I had to go to Washington to get the deadlock unfrozen.
These are things McCain has to do.
Obama, He just has to keep his mouth shut and head down and hope to hell Homeland Security or the FBI does not drag him off the stage for the crimes he has committed.
I probably will watch. Other
Submitted on October 13th, 2008 by BeoI probably will watch. Other than that, I have no expectations to hear anything special from either candidate. Obama just had his handlers give him a 4 point program for the economy. So we can figure out that they will be his new talking points. He wanted the points out early to test them in public so that he could adjust them to suit the public opinion. Two of the ideas about 401k's and mortgages were hiked from McCain, but he will present ideas as his very own. He purloined much of Hillary's programs, so I would expect as much from the ONE. Trouble is, when the handlers go away, who wil advise OBama as he does not have the back round himself to conduct a 3 piece orchestra.

Submitted on October 13th, 2008 by TreeTopFlyerOne man's torture is another's man's motivation.
I don't think I said that McCain answered any questions but the fact of the matter is that, in the current media culture, he could cure cancer and end world hunger in one speach and only someone in the audience calling Obama a Muslim would make the new. Basically, whatever he says is wrong and whatever Obama says is right and neither are investigated in the news so why bother saying anything of substance.
That is where we are. And the "debate" will be a continuation of the same...searching for a soundbite.
Interesting and thank you for asking Iron
Submitted on October 13th, 2008 by Skye Rivers1. Yes I will watch it, just like the rest of you will even if you don't admit to it because as human beings we are all interested in public hangings...... McCain is going to hang himself and Obama is going to come in for the kill like a snake who has been waiting to pounce, but as usual with the grace of a rattle snake. Can't you see the venom just dripping from his teeth. It's there, trust me.
2. AS far as how good it will be, well, I am hoping better than the last one which was as boring as watching paint dry actuallly. As for political value now, NOPE. Entertainment value, more so. Pretty pathetic that it has come to that isn't it? Watching a debate for political value ONLY because you already know what to expect. Maybe I will go into it hoping for the unexpected and that is my entertainment value of watching it now.
3. Neither will this debate help unless McCain puts on his top hat and get's his lion whip out and kicks some Obama butt which he has not done. Maybe he should put his lipstick wearing pittbull in and dress her up like McCain?
4. That is a loaded question and has so many questions attached to it. I think we are all in agreement, and what has been shared on what to ask? Let's start with this Bail Out and why the government bailed out on the american people. I blame both Senators, but more so, I was hoping for some answers by either of them, and all we get is this is what I will do when I am President, but what will they really be doing? Anyone????
5. I like the lie detector collar idea.
6. If McCain closes the gap, I will really be impressed, but truly... good luck you Maverick! Pop, Pop, wink, wink!

Submitted on October 13th, 2008 by Grains of SaltIt is funny how you say Obama doesn't answer questions - as if to say that McCain does. They both give their flawed two line discription of their "plan".
By McCains "missed opportunities" are you talking about the ability to articulate a plan that works for Americans or are you talking about more attacks and diversions? Just wondering.
Look for McCain to do nothing but attack in #3. He will not talk about where he stands on the issues. He will not talk about a plan. He will talk about Obama. He is losing this race. His in a corner. You know what happens when you trap a short-fused animal in a corner?
I agree with the lie detector idea. That may be the best thing you ever said. However, since niether McCain nor I agree with the use of torture, instead of the propsed shock - I suggest that upon a lie, an pulse is sent to the bladder whereby the candidate pees his pants.
Oh boy
Submitted on October 13th, 2008 by TreeTopFlyer1) Probably not...unless all the paint has dried and stopped pealing off the wall.
2) Worse than the other two - and that is saying something.
3) Neither. Obama won't answer anything and McCain will miss every oppertunity to do anything.
4) There are hundreds that have been proposed here on this site that would all be good. The most relevant would be "Given that the bailout bill was opposed by a vast majority of the paople of the nation and has not only not worked but possibly made the economy worse, I have two questions. First, what would you like to tell the millions of Americans you sold out by voting and pushing for the bailout with pork? Second, given your recent track record of selling out the people of this nation, how do you propose to win that trust back and actually do something that will help the economy?
5) I would hook them up to multiple lie detectors and a shock collar and every time they told a lie I would shock them. There probably wouldn't be much talking if lying was limited but at least it would be fun to watch.
6) Absolutely because Obama has been running a terrible campaign. Will he, the chances are somewhere south of Hades foundation.
Good questions.
probably not
Submitted on October 12th, 2008 by John 2000I have totally given up on Mr McCain. He has been totally pathetic for weeks now and one more little phony half-assed debate ain't gonna do him any good.
