Topic of the Day: FOREIGN POLICY 101 - OBAMA HITS THE OVERSEAS CAMPAIGN TRAIL NEXT WEEK COMPLETELY CLUELESS.
Posted 6 weeks 6 hours ago byObama is headed overseas to study Foreign Policy 101. I find it interesting that Obama has been talking Foreign Policy and has never been to Afghanistan. According to McCain, you do this AFTER you have been overseas, not before. Frankly, I would have to agree. I feel this is very premature for Obama to be speaking FP, especially since he has no experience whatsoever and is putting his policies into motion for his Presidency. More so, I would go further to say, arrogant on his behalf. The media coverage is going to be ALL THAT and A BAG OF CHIPS for that of a President, not of a Senator. How do you feel about Obama going overseas, talking his policies? It seems that the only thing Obama is doing is talking his way out of paper bags. What are your thoughts?

Submitted on July 22nd, 2008 by DCook36This is good LOL! I have noticed most recently a narcissistic side to him; however, I must say that anyone running for President has to be just a little narcissistic in the first place, let’s get real they think they can run the most powerful country in the world better then anybody is that not just a bit egotistical? I also believe they have to be think about CEO’s of major corporations or just the highest level of management you have ever had to deal with were they not kind of please with themselves and had a certain air about them that they were smarter and better then everyone around them, Egotistical, Narcissist all the same to me.
I think of the sales industry, used car business and real estate those that make the most money are those that we would all say, “they think they are so cool, special, ect... you get the point”. It is funny we do not get the same feelings towards everyone that is successful in those areas and that is only because they can hide it better then some others. Bush is a narcissistic as well but he hides it well,Obama not so good.
Just my opinion you may or may not agree and that is ok I am just a little cynical and suspicious of the motives of most anymore. I would like to think anyone running for President is doing so because they really think they can do some good, however it appears that more and more that they are just using the office to further their own interests good or not.
Right ON
Submitted on July 22nd, 2008 by DCook36Just think he may learn something, but I doubt it. If you had a chance to listen to the ABC report and interview Terry Moran did with obama I think you would agree he did not learn anything. So sad to bad lets all hope he does not win the Grand Prize the big chair in the whitehouse.
from an ABC interview
Submitted on July 22nd, 2008 by John 2000... after the meetings in Iraq:
"Here is the ABC interview with Obama. ABC correspondent Terry Moran conducted the interview. This segment ran on World News Tonight. A longer version may air on Nightline.
Q: If you had to do it over again, knowing what you know now, would you support the surge?
Obama: No. Because, keep in mind that —
Q: You wouldn’t?
Obama: Keep in mind, these kind of hypotheticals are very difficult. You know hindsight is 20/20. But I think that what I am absolutely convinced of is at that time we had to change the political debate because the view of the Bush administration at that time was one I just disagreed with.
In the close to his ABC story, Moran said this:
“And so, when pressed, Barack Obama says that he still would have opposed the surge but said he didn’t anticipate what people here call the Iraqi surge uprising against Al Qaeda and Shi’ite extremists. He said he didn’t anticipate that, but he is insisting that he is focusing forward on what needs to be done — setting that timetable for withdrawal.”
The Obama press conference with Hagel and Reed joining him is scheduled for 5 p.m. local, 10 a.m. eastern at the Citadel overlooking Amman."
=====
Notice how the question is clearly framed in "knowing what you know now" ...
Notice how Obama is ready to jump in with both feet fully in mouth anyway ...
Notice how interviewer interrupts and signals a warning ...
Notice how Obama continues with 'hypotheticals', '20/20 hindsight', and 'Bush' anyway ... in essence not understanding or sidestepping the simple actual question.
Bottom line: he wishes the surge had failed and he will never say that it succeeded.
YOU'RE RIGHT
Submitted on July 21st, 2008 by Skye RiversObama should be doing more listening than speaking policies and acting as if he is our newly elected dumbass.
Obama Overseas
Submitted on July 21st, 2008 by DCook36I agree with you Skye it is a bit permature of him. I also think he is steping over the line by going there to talk about any kind of policies. The only policies he should be talking aboutover there is the policies of the current sitting President even if he does not agree with them.
I don't have to remind
Submitted on July 21st, 2008 by janmbI don't have to remind everyone we have two MEN who are campaigning for the presidency who will set women's issues back to the 1920's .
Obama now has joined up with McCain in support of Bush's faith-based theocratic subsidies.
For only one example, the Bush administration proposed a new regulation last Tuesday that would discourage doctors and health-care clinics from providing birth control to women who need it and be denied Federal aid if they do.
Barach H. Oboma and his trip to Iraq
Submitted on July 20th, 2008 by AnonymousThe democrats have to come up with something better than Junior Seanator Barach Hussein Obama being indangered by the news that he was going to leave for his trip on a certain day.President Bush previous travel dates have been reported to the public, with no alarm by the democrats. Now their pride and joy is going on a fact finding expedition to Iraq and possibly Afganistan. So what, I am sure he will be well protected by our marines over there as well as the three news people accompaning him on his fact finding expedition. This courtesy has never been offered to John Mc Cain on his numerours trips over there.
It will be interesting to see how Barach reacts to being in a hostile environment, other than his own parties anti-war organization.

Submitted on July 19th, 2008 by Skye RiversYou raise some very good questions that left me questioning the question which is always good for morning brain stimulation.
1. Obama 'appearing' narcissistic.
Obama is proposing foreign policies and at this moment, it is his first time in Afghanistan. Unless you have travelled extensively to the mideast and have seen first hand what is transpiring, you really don't have any business saying anything until your trip and data is completed. I find it very premature, immature and narcissistic for him to think he knows a rats ass about what is going on there enough to talk about it in regards to his presumptive presidency.
2. Obama and travelling overseas.
He is our latest American Political Idol. This is how it works. You take the puppet, give it a make over (and the puppets wife,) tell it how to dance and sing on stage to dazzle the American People so they will all vote for you. Make him all shiny and new, squeaky clean and oiled up so all the crap he dishes out falls off at the waist side. The only difference here is, he has a top hat (the media) and cane (the Democratic Party) along with his act. He is brilliant at selling the sizzle as they say in radio.
If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance, baffle them with your bullshit. Now, which do you feel it is with Obama?
It seems to me Owhata is
Submitted on July 18th, 2008 by tomcatin4uIt seems to me Owhata is good at running away from poltic's. I mean exactly what has he done I can't find anything except he is only present at 1 out of 5 votes on issuse's, I mean if He cares so much why dose he keep running away.

TOO LATE ?
Submitted on July 18th, 2008 by janmbWith Obama talk is CHEAP.
Is it really too late? The Democratic Convention is not until August. Only a tiny percentage of super delegates would have to change their declared preferences, to pick the real, feminist, pro-choice candidate, and to curtail this sea-change shift to the center by yesterday's liberal who is today's new religionist. We of NOW-NYS oppose Obama's "faith-based" politicking. And we want a true supporter of women's rights in the White House. Hint hint, she's really pro choice.
the vomitous spectacle of it all ...
Submitted on July 18th, 2008 by John 2000No yet to be even fully affirmed candidate for president should be campaigning in such a grand posturing fashion on the world stage. It is bad enough that he would even be making addresses directly to Germans. This is the same campaign that has been greatly fearful of honest direct debates before the American people. Let him get past the outrageously pompous crowning moment of accepting the nomination of his usurped party amid 80,000 screaming American lunatics first. Let him actually win at the November polls and actually get sworn into office first and then let him pull the troops out of Iraq second.
Let him actually accomplish something significant for the American people prior to fashioning foreign policy and dictating to NATO and Europe what they must and must not do.
So far as the narcissism goes (I don't see it mentioned in this thread), Ike, I can only reply that if you are blind to it still then you will remain so. Creating and manipulating backdrops has indeed been a forte of this candidate's campaign methodology, but let's keep it onshore for now.
No one outside his campaign has forbidden the junior presumptive candidate from making a big spectacle there. Also, his own campaign has both floated the crazy notion as well as stopped it. There seems to be a consistency to that modus operandi throughout a campaign that is so narcissistic and greedy in its demands for constant heightened attention. Personally, I am very sick of it.
Expectations of Obama's overseas trip
Submitted on July 18th, 2008 by ikewolfYour criticisms -- which seemed to be shared by a lot of people, including professional pundits -- of Obama's trip overseas make a lot of sense.
But there are a lot of questions to this logic too.
What has Obama been doing that's so narcissistic? What makes his trip narcissistic?
What's narcissistic about Obama wanting to speak at the Brandenburg gate? Why should a politician have to "earn" the right to speak in proximity of an iconic place. Demonstrators, marchers and orators converge frequently on notable locations to make themselves heard. No doubt, a big part of politics is finding the best backdrop to offer your message. But why shouldn't Obama be allowed to speak there? Was McCain forbidden from speaking there?
Don't worry, It will only get worse
Submitted on July 18th, 2008 by John 2000But who am I to care how I feel about what the flying mouthpiece says or where it goes to say it? As you well know we are but witnesses to all of these historical events, so why pretend otherwise. How can I complain about the presumptive arrogance ushering forth in torrents from an empty suit? No, the suit is empty no longer, and I doubt it ever was. It was a nice catchy phrase though, wasn't it? Today, in the spirit of change, I prefer the image 'flying mouthpiece'. (ps: 'flying' is a gerund form euphemism for a common f-word).
But first, the entourage must pay obeisance to Israel to show the love and powerful commitment to whatever the cause really is. Would he dare offer prayer at The Wailing Wall in the divided city? "Mr Olmert, tear down this wall!" Do you recall the day after finally clinching the bogus primary how the very next morning both the flying mouthpiece and Hillary Snipergate were delivering back to back addresses to AIPAC? Well, I witnessed both psychedelic events in shock and awe. So yes I suppose the entourage may touch down briefly in Iraq and/or Afghanistan, but so what? The die has been cast in both places. Only the end results have yet to be witnessed through the lens of time and media. The real arrogance should it occur on this fuel saving junket will be if he chooses to flying-mouthpiece a major address at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The flying mouthpiece has not earned the right, and if he does so I will be praying to witness his mortal destruction.

I find it strange that the false one should be laying the groundwork for increased military entrapment in Afghanistan and Pakistan after all of his previous statements that the military is exhausted and the cost of the war(s) killing the American economy as well as our foreign goodwill. This would be coming from one who does not even believe in the war on terror. The only war on terror he believes in is the continued war of terror being waged against America. But then I did say that he was the false one, so why should I consider it strange at all?

Obama says Afghanistan 'a war that we have to win'
http://www.instablogs.com/entry/obama-sa...
Exactly why?
---
Interview with Zbigniew Brzezinski,
President Jimmy Carter's National Security Adviser
"According to this 1998 interview with Zbigniew Brzezinski, the CIA's intervention in Afghanistan preceded the 1979 Soviet invasion. This decision of the Carter Administration in 1979 to intervene and destabilize Afghanistan is the root cause of Afghanistan's destruction as a nation."
http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/BR...
As you hopefully know by now, Zbigniew is Obama's main mouth filler. He has a tortuously long involvement in clandestine World affairs. The next things I recall are Olympic boycott of Moscow Games, failed 'rescue' missions in Iran, etc ... and another completely destroyed presidency. Brzezinski is absolute poison for an Obama administration, as Wolfowitz was for Bush.

Far be it from me to insinuate that it has anything at all to do with anything so benign and uncontested as the small business of opiates.

Or that the war on terror that flying mouthpiece is now actively promoting is viewed by others as:
US “War on Terror” Destabilizing Afghanistan, Pakistan

Benjamin Franklin: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
"When the U.S. demanded that Osama bin Laden be handed over, the Taliban agreed to turn him over to an international tribunal upon seeing evidence of his guilt. But the U.S. had no such evidence. Instead, they invaded."
"According to Afghani MP Malalai Joya, one of a handful of Afghan women legislators, Karzai has also "appointed 13 former commanders with links to drug smuggling, organized crime and illegal militias to senior positions in the police force."

I don't know Skye that I see the flying mouthpiece's batteries as being completely clueless at all. No, I think it is far worse than that.
Obama wants to speak at the Brandenburg Gate
Submitted on July 18th, 2008 by koolmom21Barack Obama wants to speak at the Brandenburg Gate.
There's nothing new about narcissism in politics. Every senator looks in the mirror and sees a president. Nonetheless, has there ever been a presidential nominee with a wider gap between his estimation of himself and the sum total of his lifetime achievements?
This article tells it like it is for me.
