Is the presidency for sale in the U.S.A.???

Sen. Obama announcement Thursday that he would finance his campaign with private contributions. He has completely reversed himself and gone back on his commitment he made to the American people.
FEBRUARY 2008: Barack Obama Writes An Op-Ed In USA Today Stating That He Would “Aggressively Pursue” An Agreement With The Republican Nominee Guaranteeing “A Publicly Funded General Election In 2008 With Real Spending Limits.” “In 2007, shortly after I became a candidate for president, I asked the Federal Election Commission to clear any regulatory obstacles to a publicly funded general election in 2008 with real spending limits. The commission did that. But this cannot happen without the agreement of the parties’ eventual nominees. As I have said, I will aggressively pursue such an agreement if I am my party’s nominee. I do not expect that a workable, effective agreement will be reached overnight. The campaign-finance laws are complex, and filled with loopholes that can render meaningless any agreement that is not solidly constructed. … I propose a meaningful agreement in good faith that results in real spending limits. The candidates will have to commit to discouraging cheating by their supporters; to refusing fundraising help to outside groups; and to limiting their own parties to legal forms of involvement. And the agreement may have to address the amounts that Senator McCain, the presumptive nominee of his party, will spend for the general election while the Democratic primary contest continues. In l996, an agreement on spending limits was reached by Sen. John Kerry and Gov. William Weld in their Massachusetts Senate contest. They agreed to limits on overall and personal spending and on a mechanism to account for outside spending. The agreement did not accomplish all these candidates hoped, but they believe that it made a substantial difference in controlling outside groups as well as their own spending. We can have such an agreement this year, and it could hold up. I am committed to seeking such an agreement if that commitment is matched by Senator McCain. When the time comes, we will talk and our commitment will be tested. I will pass that test, and I hope that the Republican nominee passes his.” (Barack Obama, Op-Ed, “Opposing View: Both Sides Must Agree,”
Sen. McCain said yes and did pass that test and Sen. Obama said -never mind.
GIVE ME A BRAKE!!!
"limit each general election campaign to about $85 million."
He will not take the money because it comes with limits. He wants to buy the general election just like he did the democratic primary.
Who in the hell does this man think he is?

Makes Sense
Submitted on June 23rd, 2008 by rom12921He wanted public funding when he could potentially lose to Senator Clinton to appear above the fray, etc. But now, when he is far ahead of John McCain in fund-raising, he wants to exploit the advantage.
Kevinkind, if you don't want to use oil-based products, don't by them. If you were serious, you'd be amish.

ALL ABOUT EXPERIENCE
Submitted on June 23rd, 2008 by janmbI kept insisting its all about background and experience. True of any job.
Campaigning is all about making promises that may never be kept because there are too many other people involved in decision making.
The public still insists on being conned by speeches and promises.
Will never learn.
WHAT I SEE
Submitted on June 22nd, 2008 by Skye RiversIs Obama returning this nations power back to ALL THE COMPANIES, POWER HOUSES AND SO ON that have contributed BIG TIME to his campaign. Corn has it right. THEY don't GIVE out of the goodness of their hearts; they don't have any. THE HEARTLESS supporting THE HEARTLESS is how it works here in AMERICA.
Those seem to be the ones with all the money.
What I see
Submitted on June 22nd, 2008 by kevinkindWhat I see is Obama returning this nations power back to its intended recipients, the people, not wealthy special interest like those who believe in the power of oil.
It is true, we will need oil well into our future, but what we don't need is for oil to rule over the will of the people.
Sold.

Do you think these corporations and big donors give out of the kindness of their hearts. They would never want anything in return for all the thousands of dollars they have given over the years.
Yeh right!
A POLITICAL PLOY
Submitted on June 22nd, 2008 by Skye RiversI can smell it! And look, he has all the money in the world from PUBLIC DONATIONS (or am I just missing this)... so why does he need more from us poor breaking back trying to make a living Americans as Kevin said.
I think he did this as an act of grandeur? Does that make sense? I am still trying to figure this whole thing out. AND where is McCain in all of this?
OK>>>>>> I feel it coming back on again, the Flip-Flop syndrome I have been suffering from and talked about in one of my blogs. I need to go lay down ....... I feel the Obama cold sweats coming back on......... with a high fever of O GEE WHAT NEXT!

Submitted on June 22nd, 2008 by koolmom21Do you not see that Sen. Obama is not concerned with spending our money-he would take it in a heartbeat if it did not come with limits!
yep
Submitted on June 22nd, 2008 by John 2000it's true, many small donors actually did give and that is a good thing.
but don't be fooled into believing that internet is not also a great way to distribute laundry from centralized focused sources.
and Kevin, I suppose your reply negates the fact that Obama repeatedly lied. No, of course not.
Buy it, yes
Submitted on June 22nd, 2008 by kevinkindBuy it, yes. With the money earned by hard working middle class who earn the money by breaking their backs and working too hard just to turn around and spend it on the artificially inflated price of gas.
These same Americans believe that this election is so important that we have payed for Obama's campaign just like the funding fathers intended, with small donations from common voters of every creed from all across this great nation.
Ain't the Internet grand?
