The 2008 Pew Research Center's Global Project report is in: In the forecast a global economic gloom.
Posted 12 weeks 2 days ago byYesterday, the Pew Research center released its comprehensive 2008's Global Attitudes Project.
Beside a global economic gloom in the forecast, with China and India as notable exceptions, the report noted some positive changes for the perception of the US abroad.
Five years after the start of the war in Iraq, the image of the US remains far less positive than it was before the war. However, the latest survey finds some encouraging signs for America's global image for the 1st time this decade.
Favorable views of the US have increased modestly since 2007 in 10 of 21 countries where comparative data are available.
Perhaps more importantly, the polling find many people around the world are paying close attention to the US Presidential election. Moreover- except in countries that are extremely anti-American- those who are paying attention generally believe the next President may well change US foreign policy for the better. In nearly every country surveyed, greater numbers express confidence in Senator Obama than in Senator McCain.
However, the survey of more than 24,000 people in 24 countries, conducted March 17 to April 21, finds another change in global opinion that could be a huge challenge for the US in the future.
Around the world , at the exception of China & India, people have a new concern from last year survey: Slumping economic conditions. And they have a familiar complaint, most think the US is having a considerable influence on their economy, and it is largely seen as a negative one.

It sickens me
Submitted on June 15th, 2008 by koolmom21I for one do not care if the rest of the world likes us or not. We know that they are jealous and they have a very narrow view of our nation.
It sickens me to think that Sen. Obama wants us to change our way of life to please the rest of the world! It also sickens me that anyone in their right mind would vote for such a person.
Hamilton ...

Submitted on June 14th, 2008 by PabloHe is French. That alone should be obvious that he hates America. Never met a Frenchman who was born after WWII that liked America.
I have lived abroad and been to many countries. I was even born in a US Territory!
I have been to India, and the Middle East as well as Russia and the eastern Block. I have spent time in Europe as well.
I Lived in Nederland ( Holland) and I have been to many places in Europe. I learned that the French hate America very much. They are willing to go out of their way to work against the US at every opportunity. The people on the street openly hate Americans and make it very obvious.
In fact, the French president and their foreign minister have asked the citizens of France to stop being hateful to the Americans because its hurting their economy and tourism.
Thus he is just another Frenchie who hates America and Americans but can not stop his lust for things America makes and produces. Much like the rest of the world.
Any time.
Submitted on June 14th, 2008 by HamiltonYou have not ever posted an article positive about America. You do live here don’t you?
The reason most of the world has a negative opinion of our great country is because the radical liberal media hates conservatism. The media in this country and Europe has said nothing positive about America in eight years. In the last eight years I’ve been to India, Italy and Spain twice. If all I had to go on was the news cast from those countries I too would think the US the devil. So who cares that the rest of the world believes the lies. There has not been an attack on American soil since 9/11. I realize you and about half of the posters on this site hate that fact. I realize that you and your boys would like nothing better than a decimated defeated America. Friends and family bleeding in the street will be the only thing to make you smile about America. Don’t worry mercy, you’ll get your wish, the anti-Christian, anti-white and anti- American Barack Hussein Obama will be the next president of this once free country. Then you and whisky and bull-y will get your wish, a destroyed America.
No suprise
Submitted on June 13th, 2008 by PabloWhen the US comsumes nearly 70% of the world's exports then yea, America does have a big impact on many countries economies.
What is causing the worry globally is that the rise in fuel costs and the rise in Dryshipping of export goods have made it extreme unprofitable for many foreign companies to ship goods to the US.
With a weak US Dollar and having the worlds greatest consumer market pulling back and not spending as much money as in the past, Most of the world is very worried that it will be too expensive to ship their goods to America and that because of a weak dollar and other high costs like shipping and fuel will make businesses return back to the US because it will be cheaper for companies to make goods in the US because shipping costs to the consumer will be the factor.
Thus the world will return back to the 1950s and 1960s because America basically made everything itself and bought very little from abroad. Thus leaving the majority of the world poor.
So no I am not suprised at all. America has always been hated since the 1950s around the world. America is in a new type of Cold War and simply does not realize it.
