Messiah Marketing
Posted 18 weeks 2 days ago byAlthough, presumptive of the presumptive nominee to declare victory, he has some political wisdom. In his Messiah Marketing program he has done a few things, I believe, deliberate and smart.
First of all, the intentional big-speak vagueries. Buzzwords: Change we can believe in, yes we can, Hope, have resonated with people; especially younger, more idealogical, less involved folks. The media's death and destruction bent (sells papers) routinely gives the worst of the economy, war in Iraq and the Bush Administration. This has helped fuel the change and hope backing and ironically, may have helped Obama instead of Clinton. By repeating the Bush negatives and staying away from specifics, Obama was cleverly let the media do his work for him. Look what has happened to McCain with 100 years.
Secondly, using resources wisely to maximize the delegate count without necessarily the most popular votes. This 'strategery' helped defeat Clinton even though she had better results in states with more elctoral vots and according to various news programs MSNBC, FOX, CNN, polls better than Senator Obama in states like Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania.
Lastly, allowing (and likely promoting) the JFK comparisons from Ted (how would we know if his brain is OK) Kennedy, CNN correspondents this morning and many soon to come give an almost instant Presidential credibility that have little to do with Senator Obama.
Although I believe Obama will be defeated, his brilliant marketing plan centered on Senator Obama as the savior of America's future should be commended - well done.

Submitted on June 5th, 2008 by John 2000last comment, wiz. When I hear that practiced cadenced voice ramping up to complete a salvo of 'but uhs' I swear and change over to some channel with commercials showing. But yesterday I was not quick enough to catch it before he proudly radiated the 100 years comment yet again. I hope he includes it in every Obamaburst every day until November. The great pompous orator of our times is a droning bore; kind of like the noise that gets emitted from distant chain saws mixing with the hum of high power lines on an October afternoon. But, there are the Obama.com signs sprinkled throughout the neighborhood. When I go out to eat, I choose the Mexican heritage part of town. (but I had been doing that for a while anyway).
Yeah, they did her in really good, except for Greta, Colmes, and for the most part Juan Williams. They must be twitching in their collective swill now that there is a possibility that they may have to resuscitate the old crying Bosnia-gate hag with her senile baggage. That could be fun to observe.
So I toast your toast to a marketing plan well done, rom.
I have to point out another amazingly unheralded fact : McCain has been involved with the 'climate change' issue for several years now.

Submitted on June 5th, 2008 by wishnevskyI am already as tired of the Obama Oration as i ever was of the Bush Blither. Anybody ever notice that Hillary can talk like a human being if she sets her mind to it, while Bush and Obama are one trick ponies?
So great, we replace a phony, over budgeted pseudo-conservative with a phony, over budgeted pseudo-liberal. Progress.
McCain, although a Mossback is a real human being, not a media puppet, so he might get my vote.
I think the best possible outcome is a McCain Presidency, and a Democommie Congress, so we can get something done on a few of the important problems out there.
but i suspect the Hard Right will sabotage McCain rather than have somebody who believes in Climate Change and a fair break on immigration, so it's going to be Obanation all the way. At least until MIchelle runs her rad mouth.

Good comparison
Submitted on June 4th, 2008 by rom12921President Bush had limited political experience when winning the Presidency, actually less than Senator Obama. Perhaps the marketing from the Rove machine was superior?
IF GWB WON--SO CAN OBAMA
Submitted on June 4th, 2008 by janmbThe public doesn't care about EXPERIENCE. No one ever knows what will tickle their fancy.
With GWB they liked the idea he had one-on-one talks with GOD and was against gays and abortion to prove how pious he was.
With Obama, he convinces people he's DIFFERENT than the rest. He's not a Washington insider so I have no idea how he will manage to get things done. Well---like GWB --he can just be another PUPPET leader. We won't know WHO is running the country once again---but after 8 yrs we'll be USED to it. YES WE CAN --we can endure possibly having another inept president.

Submitted on June 4th, 2008 by rom12921I left out the money as it seems the money went more for Obama following the "success" in primary contests.
Also, I find the presumptive nomination to be astounding in a Republican candidate would not be allowed to distance himself from a radical pseudo-church background. different subject.

Submitted on June 4th, 2008 by koolmom21It's funny how everyone seems to close their eyes to one of the biggest fact.
Please lets not forget he over spent Sen. Clinton 4 to 1. That is not political wisdom-that is buying the election.

I think Denzel Washington
Submitted on June 4th, 2008 by John 2000I think Denzel Washington could have done it better, and he really is black. I doubt if he has little of the Obama baggage also.
I don't think Obama developed the marketing plan. It smacks a lot of the old JFK plan. Chicago, NBC, foreign curiosity, enchantment et al.
