The land that time forgot.
Posted 14 weeks 17 hours ago byYesterday, in Kentucky, I went to the local volunteer fire department to cast my primary vote, I am registered as a Republican and said as much to the lovely older lady who was an election volunteer. I then presented to her my picture I.D. and she showed me where I needed to sign my name in the Republican section of her book.
She then pointed to one of the new voting machines and handed me a code that I was to enter into it, which I did and up popped a Democratic ballet. My first thought was, this is great, now I can vote for Obama. Then I thought to myself, what is going on? Am I the only Republican that has been given this opportunity? And if I am not, how many Republicans in Kentucky voted for Hillary?
After giving the situation enough thought, I decided that it must be a honest mistake by the nice little old lady, I told her again that I was a Republican and there must be some kind of mistake because the machine has presented to me a Democratic ballet and I would like to vote for a Republican in this primary. So she moved me to an older machine, where I was able to cast my vote for a Republican.
Today, I find myself wondering, if it was an honest mistake. Were there other registered Republicans who found themselves in the same situation as I did on that day? And if there were others? How many of them chose the path I took?

Thoughts
So.
Submitted on May 22nd, 2008 by HamiltonIf I understand correctly, you are a pro-life liberal who would rather vote for a candidate with principles and integrity than a specific ideological agenda. If I am correct in my interpretation of your response to my first post then I am more confused than ever, or more convinced than ever you are trying to pretend to something that you have never been. Barrack Obama adamantly supports partial birth abortion and if you are not familiar with the procedure you should really look into it. It is a particularly evil and vile attack on our children. And I’m sure I don’t need to recount all the lies and half truths by Senator Obama which in effect erase any possible claims of integrity. I can’t resist, just a couple, 1. I never heard him use that type of hate while I was in church. 2. Okay I did know that some of his views were controversial. 3. I can no more disown this man than I can my race or my typical white racist grandmother. 4. I now disown and distance myself and my campaign from this man and his views. 5. I do not agree with any of his statements…come-on?
I’ll stop now and not mention telling the American public one thing and telling Canada, yea…I’m just kidding. I will refrain from talking about agreeing with his signature to campaign finance restriction and then saying, just kidding, simply because he conned America out of billions in political donations in the middle of a recession.
Your reasons and your talk just don’t add up. The things you claim to care about mean less than nothing to your messiah. I apologize if I’m wrong but the only information I have to base my opinion is what you write.
There is no concern about the average working American from anyone associated with the Obama campaign. Barrack Obama really, honestly believes he and only he is smart enough to care for us all. He needs to tell us what’s right and what’s wrong because we are sad, bitter ignorant peasants. He believes this rule is his destiny; his divine right bestowed by his intellect and courage.
I disagree!
Ok, my initial response was
Submitted on May 22nd, 2008 by John 2000Ok, my initial response was relative to your several blogs statements as well to your somewhat confusing Bio information. I had not yet seen your response to Hamilton below.
I would expect that the older lady working at the polling place made an honest mistake. She was probably preoccupied or stuff like that. If you suspect otherwise :
WHAT? All voters must produce identification or be known by a precinct officer before voting. Types of ID that can be used include driver's license, Social Security card, credit card or another form of ID containing both photo and signature.
FRAUD? If you see any election irregularity, contact Attorney General Jack Conway's office at 1-800-328-8683.
I worked in a RR union myself many years ago in Virginia with some critical responsibilities and was never a point of contention; nor did I cause any injuries or deaths.
I apologize for hurting your feelings.
Simple Man
Submitted on May 22nd, 2008 by kevinkindI am a man who has lived a mans simple yet extra ordinary life. Oldness is not something I suffer from and I intend to keep my life as new and as simple as long as I can.
When I worked in a union there was always that one guy who everyone knew might unintentionally, accidentally cause a death on the job, but no one could do anything about him because the union always protect these people the most. I wonder some times John, if you might be that guy.
Jimmy Carter stood for honesty and the goodness of humanity, which made him one of the best Presidents we have ever had, He was also too nice for his own good, which made him one of the worst.

What can I say? First of all, did 'they' also give you the wrong form when you registered Republican?
You have certain other minor credibility issues: like are you really old enough to vote?
Jimmy Carter listed as both best and worst president?
You are right Hamilton
Submitted on May 22nd, 2008 by kevinkindI am not a life time republican. I once was a Dem. Until I decided you republicans needed a little help.
I've been registered as a republican again for about 6 years now, and before that I was registered as a republican during the Reagan administration. But in between I was a Dem.
Integrity always trumps blind loyalty in my book. I've always voted for those who I felt had the best interest of the middle class working people.
I did not like it in the 80s when unions where so powerful it took 6 people at 20 dollars an hour to replace a light bulb.
I liked the people that Bill Clinton had working for him. They knew what they were doing. Although, I grew to dislike Bill when he wagged his finger at me while he was having his fun.
I do not like Bush policy, although I wouldn't mind sitting down and having a beer with him.
I registered has a republican to out republican my Kentucky Democratic friends. Who are gun loving loyal republican voters. I also love guns. I also have great respect for woman who have faith enough to see a child has a gift of love and would never consider ending them no matter the circumstances of the situation. I hope to bring to the party a sense of honesty that isn't measured by enriching only your friends.
There is nothing wrong with wealth. Republicans just need to learn that wealth works better if it trickles up not down.
Come on Brother
Submitted on May 22nd, 2008 by HamiltonNobody is going to believe you where ever a Republican. Not with your ga-ga-gussing over the radical messiah of Change the way you do. A long time Republican is just not going to buy all that empty rhetoric. No long time Republican would ever beseech the over bloated ego maniac Al Gore to do anything except see a doctor. Admit it, you are a left wing socialist, America hating, anti-religious democrat, and always have been. I know you guys prefer to be called progressive, okay sorry about the America hating part, but you have seriously never been pro small government and low taxes, never been for states’ rights and very limited government regulations. You’ve never believed in a person’s right to bear arms and take care of himself and his family without the interference of elitist politicians who think they can do it better.
Your Vote only counts when they say it does
Submitted on May 22nd, 2008 by AnonymousAs an INDEPENDENT----you couldn't even vote in the primary in FLORIDA like you can in other states.
Of course voters in Florida were being punished and their votes didn't count anyway cause "THEY" said it didn't.
Apparently, each state has different RULES ---now ain't that just another reason we need to change the way elections are run in this country.
