Published: Tuesday May 20, 2008 Al Gore received a $1 million prize on Monday for his environmental work from an Israeli fund.
The Dan David Foundation awarded the former vice president its annual "present" prize for alerting the world to the crisis from the overuse of fossil fuels. It also gave prizes in "past" and "future" categories.The Nobel laureate received the award at a ceremony at Tel Aviv University.
In his address, Gore said, "We do face a planetary emergency. The phrase sounds shrill to many, but it is unfortunately quite accurate."
Gore said 10 percent of the prize would go to young researchers and the rest to the Alliance for Climate Protection, an advocacy group he co-founded and which works to change public opinion worldwide about the urgency of the climate crisis.
Gore shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 with the United Nations panel on climate change for their environmental work. After learning of his Nobel win, Gore said he was donating half his share of the prize money to the Alliance for Climate Protection.
International businessman and philanthropist Dan David formed the foundation in 2000 with a $100 million endowment, and a year later the award was first given.

We simply don't know what the next 100 - 500 years brings. Another mini ice-age, another 1 degreee rise in temps? It's a topic worthy of more study, but less hysteria.
Even if (big IF) human activity contributes in a significant way, what could we do? Short of a world government or becoming amish.

Most medical students are taught about Organic Brain Damage Syndrome. In my opinion Bush seems to have a worsening case of this problem as he ages.
I will never forget his "yo,Blair" childish comment when he was in Europe. He should have had on a baseball cap turned backward, that's how stupid he sounded. But his true character just showing through i suppose.

Anyone with a basic knowledge of statistics can evaluate his work and see many errors with invalid comparisons, ommissions of relevant facts and forming conclusions not supported by data. Left with 2 scenarios"
1. Errors were unintentional. Perhaps more peer review of methodology would have improved. Honest mistake?
2. Errors were intentional. What's the motivation for misrepresntation? Al Gore Gets Richer? Seems not to be in it for the money, maybe recognition or to try to redeem himself after disappointing 2000 election.
Why is it when Rush Limbaugh omits relevant facts in a news (using term loosely)he's a fraud and Al Gore does the same and is not?

But he is a liar and his global warming scare is not true and never will be true.
Its like saying because more blacks are in prison, then all blacks are criminals. Its the same thing here.
Al Gore says because the earth is warming and Man produce a fraction of more gas than in the past that the two are some how linked to the whole. Its nonsense.
I would love to debate Gore one on one and show how much a liar he really is.

BLITZER: I want to get to some of the substance of domestic and international issues in a minute, but let's just wrap up a little bit of the politics right now.
Why should Democrats, looking at the Democratic nomination process, support you instead of Bill Bradley, a friend of yours, a former colleague in the Senate? What do you have to bring to this that he doesn't necessarily bring to this process?
GORE: Well, I will be offering -- I'll be offering my vision when my campaign begins. And it will be comprehensive and sweeping. And I hope that it will be compelling enough to draw people toward it. I feel that it will be.
But it will emerge from my dialogue with the American people. I've traveled to every part of this country during the last six years. During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.
