I have often observed that shall we say 'less complicated', 'lower echelon' people often are blessed with much keener intuitive instincts and cognitive skills than, shall I say the 'more complicated', 'more invested' people who claim superiority due to material wealth.
Thus, when the famous 'white "lunch bucket" group' votes "We smell a rat", I tend to trust their instinct.
Many people find it difficult to let go of early convictions and often its easier to stay in denial than to face the truth.
However, its not always ignorance but how people perceive things differently. A good example may be to look at the number of public figures who loyally stood by GWB for such a long time. Now they have abandoned him when less educated people had Bush figured out during his first speaking engagement for the presidency.
There are two kinds of people, those who speak and those who listen...
I have found the more I keep my silence and listen, the more I learn from people (something more and more I strive towards everyday.) For the times I have tried to defend myself and talk over someone, as Wishnevsky so eloquently has stated "it is impossible to defeat an ignorant man in argument" I have found that it was all about my arrogance speaking without thought in trying to make useless points... which I call meaningless shells.
If you are ignorant, well you are uneducated... but if you are inconsiderate, than all the education in the world will not change a thing...
Hamilton, I agree that your thoughts are truly noteworthy and thank you for sharing and I too would ask Wishnevsky, have you yourself analyzed these these connotations?
The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.

"Arrogance is the curse of the closed mind and prohibits true intellect."

They are almost always right.

I have often paraphrased this quote. When I think about it, most conflict comes down to these two things -ignorance and inconsideration.

Hamilton, your comments are noteworthy.
