Hillary to OPEC: "Drop Dead"

Hillary Clinton has had enough of high gas prices. And in her closing argument in Indiana Monday, she pledged to go after the OPEC cartel:

"We’re going to go right at OPEC," she said. "They can no longer be a cartel, a monopoly that get [sic] together once every couple of months in some conference room in some plush place in the world, they decide how much oil they’re going to produce and what price they’re going to put it at."

Strong words, but empty. Hillary doesn't want to drill for our own oil in a swatch of vast ANWR the size of Dulles Airport. She doesn't want to drill for our own oil off shore. And if she thinks we're close to a hydrogen economy or stuffing compost in our gas tanks within her driving lifetime, she's kidding herself.

Even Politico is dismissive, noting that "It's a potent message, like the attack on 'Wall Street money brokers,' with deep roots in American politics. It' It's also very hard to figure out what exactly she means by the threat to break OPEC."

What's even funnier than Hillary's screed is Obama's response, via Politico:

The Obama campaign points out that Clinton has not signed on to cosponsor a bill that aspires "to make oil-producing and exporting cartels illegal."

Clinton responded by nothing that she voted for another version of the pointless Senate exercise — you might as well have voted for a bill during the Cold War making the international spread of communism "illegal" — and stressing that she has "long favored" filing a WTO complaint against OPEC.

Oh no! Not a lawsuit! Surely, the sheiks are shaking in their night gowns.
