China IS Communist Party Government

"China is effectively a one-party state in which the communists wield absolute control over the government, judiciary and military.
MAJOR THEMES OF THE CONGRESS
promoting 'social harmony'
'scientific development'
building a 'well-off society'
consolidation of President Hu's position
That is why the party's congress is the country's main political event.
But decisions made at the congress will probably have been agreed beforehand after wide consultation among senior party leaders.
Expect no public disagreements over policy or personnel."
China is not communist
Submitted on May 13th, 2008 by AnonymousChina is far more capitalist than the USA or most other countries for that matter. They need all this metal because they are factory to the world right now. China is communist in name only, when people refer to China as communist in the news, on blogs, etc. it is misleading.
Actually economic growth
Submitted on May 6th, 2008 by John 2000Actually economic growth last quarter was .6% last quarter rather than .06% cited below.
It was +.58% in last quarter of 2007.

So, technically, the big R-recession word the Dems have been desperately fighting for will not be available prior to the convention and prior to the election -- not to say that they will not use it often, sort of like the 100 year war BS.
Anyway, back to China. In addition to a great many civil projects, China is committed to building and/or obtaining a world class Naval force. This is a very high priority goal for them. Recently, a new, reportedly, nuclear sub base was seen to be under construction, and not on mainland China. Also they bought an aircract carrier from the Russians. India is building a new port on Myanmar, which is well under way toward becoming an extension of China.
It is thought that China is also committed to militarization in space.
What it will all lead to is anybody's guess, but it certainly will tend to ratchet up the possibilities. WW3?
Re: What Big K said
Submitted on May 6th, 2008 by JoelChina's growing by leaps and bounds.
Also: It's growing its military by leaps and bounds.
But that doesn't mean World War 3. It just means we have another big power to contend with. We just have to figure out how to deal with it correctly.
I think it's mainly in construction projects.
Submitted on May 6th, 2008 by The Big KlosowskiChina is growing by leaps and bounds. They are building roads, bridges, skyscrapers, cars, bikes, television sets, watches, etc. etc. etc. You have to realize that they have 1.2 BILLION people (that's four times the size of the United States), and their economy is growing at 10% per quarter (46% per year!). Meanwhile, our economy grew 0.06% last quarter, and actually shrank the quarter before that.
I'm not saying that they aren't using it for some military applications, but I am saying that the bulk of the materials are going to build their infrastructure and economy.
