Only 33% of Americans say Sen. McCain has a clear plan to solve US problems.
Posted 11 weeks 2 days ago byAn April 28 USA today/Gallup poll update shows a significant decline since March in the percentage of Americans who beleive Sen. McCain " has a clear plan for solving the country's problems ". Only 33% currently say this, compared with 42% in March.
On the " clear plan " dimension, both Democratic candidates scored higher than Sen. McCain. Sen. Clinton got 47% and Sen. Obama 40%.
However, Sen. McCain performed well in perception of his leadership ( 66% describe him as a " strong and decisive leader ") and honesty ( 65% say he is " honest & trustworthy ").
The question of honesty is a problem for Sen. Clinton, only 37% say she is " honest & trustworthy " against 60% for Sen. Obama.

Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by rom12921"' let the market and increased economic freedom do their efficient thing '... You can't honestly say it is working."
What else do you propose besides economic freedom? Curious as to what you have in mind, Karl.
You can't honestly say it is not working.GDP growth in Q1 + .6% even though we were trying to wish ourselves into recession. The econmony has excellent growth since the 2002 economic hangover from 9/11 & the 2001 recession-light.
Is it high gas prices? Up 5% per yr on avg over last 30 years, about the same as the overall inflation rate. House prices falling from speculators running up prices too much too fast. These are old stories of boom and bust, commonly referred to as business cycles.
If the last 7 years make you doubt freedom, you might as well disregard the Declaration and the other 225 years.
Fair & Balance

Republicans & government.
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by MercyphotographyLet me ask you this ,Jim, if Republicans dislike government and " planning " so much, why do they keep running for office?
Also, if you have " an idea that might actually work ", what the hell are you going to do with just the idea, if you don't have a plan to implement the idea? Sorry,my friend, this is not a very logical proposition.
And as far as " let the market and increased economic freedom do their efficient thing ". Isn't it the " Bushonomic " of the last seven years? You can't honestly say it is working.
Best.
Another Possible Title?
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by RespectfulguestJust curious why headline of blog did not read "A huge percentage, 66% to be exact, of Americans believe Senator McCain performs well in Leadership Abilities, and would be Honest and Trustworthy as our next President"?
Peculiar...
Plan, plan, plan ...blah, blah, blah
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by Jim LakelyI'm clearly in the minority here, but my stomach turns when I hear of "government plans." Few of them ever seem to work out.
This poll question is, frankly, juvenile. It presumes that any human can have "a clear plan for solving the country's problems." Which problems? All of them? That'd be quite a list. And there's a big difference between having a "clear plan" and coming up with an idea that might actually work.
I'd like to see fewer government plans and "fixes," and just let the markets and increased economic freedom do their efficient thing.
so many plans ...
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by John 2000so many polls.
I think this current primary is a great of example of Dems planning.
Planless?
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by AnonymousI guess that's what you get when you spend time fighting about mood points, sound bites....more or less BS. Americans are tired of it, still wondering so, why the heck McCain scored so high on " honesty and trust" issue. How can anyone seriously trust McCain, the Dems are saying that electing McCain is 4 more years of Bush....I think it could even be worse.
My Bad.
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by The Big KlosowskiSorry, I was in a hurry this morning and skimmed.
So basically all the candidates are close to planless as of now according the the American public.
3 candidates walk into a bar
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by rom12921I find these results suprising, especially Mr Obama's 60% trustworthiness. Do you think it was the shot & the beer or the crying?
Big K-- Ya gotta read all the way to the second paragraph!

A Clear Plan
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by Barrie ChurchDear Mercy Man,
Unfortunatly, in this year of CHANGE, no plan will be very clear. Our problems are too diverse and complicated. The Democrats need to break their ideas into smaller pieces and feed them to our ADD addled minds with a little sugar. Oh, did I say CHANGE?
What was the number for the other candidates?
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by The Big KlosowskiI'm just wondering, because at this time all of the candidates are talking in rather vague terms.
Our future...
Submitted on May 2nd, 2008 by MercyphotographyDear Joel,
Yes indeed, isn't it pathetic that this critical election is focus on side shows like Wright or on pandering to voters like the " gas tax cut proposal " of both Sen.McCain and Sen.Clinton.
Regards.
But our future doesn't matter, Mercy
