You have to wonder: The Presidential Campaign
Posted 20 weeks 3 days ago byHaving been away from the blogosphere for a while, I've not weighed in on the Demacrat debacle we call the race for the nomination. I am pleased that Obama's cracks are showing, but I have to wonder if he will still be able to pull off the "it's not about the 'gotchas' but issues" come back. If Obama doesn't think his world view is an important issue to American voters, he needs to think again.
His world view probably tells us more about how he will be as a president than any other consideration. He's already on record as the most liberal Senator and we've seen how he uses rhetoric to slide out from under the issues with a vague message of "change" and "hope". As I recently (re)learned after babysitting my new grandson: sometimes change comes with a lot of doody! The changes Obama envisions will definately come with a load of something.
On Clinton, I have to wonder if she didn't have a hand in Obama as a running mate, thinking the wet-behind-the-ears Senator would give her an easy victory? Boy was she wrong, but it did do something for her. She has had to actually work hard and make an effort. she has reinvented herself into a softer, gentler kind of woman and more. I believe this race has worked to help the Democratic Party by causing them to work and think rather than assuming they have the mandate for the Presidency.
Neither Clinton nor Obama (and probably not McCain either) will be good for our country. At least McCain first and then Clinton would slow the process of becoming a globalized, liberal, socialist country from the running start Senator Obama seems to be making in that direction.
I, along with many others, am sitting back and enjoying the ride. Politics has become interesting again and both parties are shaking in their boots. It's like watching a Soap Opera: you have to tune in tomorrow to see what's going to happen next. Unfortunately, it's not a soap opera, it's our country's destiny and we, as voters, cannot afford to take that lightly. So, lets keep poking a stick at the candidates to see if we can get a reaction that will give us the real candidate underneath and the real picture of what they're going to bring to the best country ever: the USA!
