Why is it so hard to understand Paul is speaking about people who put themselves either the same as Christ or above Him?

I think with the condition our country is falling into we are looking more at who the anti-christ is than who Jesus Christ is. No, I don't think Obama is the anti-christ but he scares me because of all that he keeps secretive and comments his wife has made. She drops some statements that leaves the impression she wants the black community to rise up and make the white people pay for what they did to them. Yes, I could and would support a black president but not this one because he doesn't come with any experience and we need someone with leadership and knowledge of national and international affairs. May God show us that person. while it is true the bible says we will not know the antichrist until he identifies himself as the christ. does it say we will not know for SURE until that time? then guessing he is such could be correct. I feel that Obama would be a terrible president. He has very little experience and has had a horrible voting record in the Senate.

Norway has the highest standard of living in the world, and is, by many, considered a socialist country. I mean we may make a boat-load of money with our capitalist society, but our people don't even have health care. And we are partially socialist anyway... we have a public school system (should we get rid of that, too... let those who can afford education take it, and everyone else be left to let their minds atrophy and widen the gap between the classes even further).

I really just want to know why people are so afraid, ignorant, or repulsed by socialism. Sure we'd have to pay more taxes, but think of how much you'd save on health insurance (and the fact that you could go to the doctor for preventative medicine, increasing life-expectancy and overall quality of life)

I firmly believe that the world will see an anti-Christ. However, there is no way that anyone could guess who it will be. The Bible tells us that no one will know who the anti-Christ is, just as it tells us we won't know the time that Jesus will come back. So, as a Christian, I don't make assumptions. I mind my own business and just make sure that I am good with God. That's all I can do. God doesn't want us to live in fear, anyway. He wants us to be happy. Fear mongering and name calling is only hurtful, never helpful... regardless of your religious stance.

But there definitely is a strain of thinking among some social conservatives that is constantly looking for the anti-Christ -- as I say, I know this because I lived with such people -- and, conveniently, often seems to find its target in whichever Democrat is most pre-eminent at any given time.
