Feels like the last time
Posted 14 weeks 4 days ago byYou'll never guess who's sponsoring Foreigner's "Feels Like the First Time" tour this year.
Oh, what fun a joker could have with songs like "Hotblooded," "Double Vision," "Cold as Ice" and -- Lord help me -- "Urgent."
The only thing that would make the story even more perfect would be if Pfizer joined as a sponsor, too.

Great video.

Concert Going for Geezers
Submitted on April 9th, 2008 by AnonymousA good friend of mine (older than me) just went and watched two nights of Bruce Springsteen in concert. She said the first part of the show was really sad because he played a lot of new stuff which no one there recognized or wanted to hear. They all just kinda sat on their thumbs until he started with the old stuff. She only went on the second night because she had free tickets that she could not unload (and that says something too . . .) One reason she couldn't unload them is that some of her friends said they'd rather stay home and watch American Idol . . . She wasn't too sorry, however. On the second night she noticed that he did quite a different show. Why? She discovered that it's because the producers know that when he's playing two nights in the same city, a good number in the audience are repeat customers. So the audience--even for the oldies shows--is quite limited. I'm no genius about these things but I'd venture to guess that ticket prices have a great deal to do with it. When you can have video, audio, interviews, etc. all on demand . . . why would you want to fork over a prince's ransom just to see some musician sucking air.
The show must go on!
Submitted on April 9th, 2008 by BenYes, somewhere I have Foreigner "4" on vinyl. I bought the CD re-master a few years ago, out of nostalgia more than anything. You know something? It doesn't really hold up.
We should have seen this coming. Oldies stations now play rock hits from the '70s in heavy rotation. The only place to hear pop and rock standards from the 1950s is satellite radio. Or my house.
On a related note, The American explores how old rock bands are driving the live concert business. What happens when they really finish that farewell tour? Bad things.
Say it ain't so! I remember
Submitted on April 9th, 2008 by JKPSay it ain't so! I remember playing Foreigner LPs (yes, I'm that old!) at slumber parties as a young girl. We thought we (and they) were pretty cool. I think I need a drink after reading this. I was thinking whiskey . . . but perhaps I'd better get some "Joint Juice."
Ouch
