Now I have Something to Say
Posted 22 weeks 5 days ago byWell, well, well. Someone has challenged me. Where do I start, the War in Iraq; I made a statement that said "if we want to keep the peace we would pull out right now" and i stick by that 150%. Why you asked, prove it you said, "this is an unstable country" thats why we need to get out. This is not our war this was never our war to fight. Maybe when they said the had wepons but guess what they didn't say that the government just lied to us yet again. They just needed an excuse to invade a thierd world country so they could have more power and maybe if we took power we could get easy acsses to the oil. This war was never about protecting America or helping Iraq it was about power and greed.(just like everything else in this country) Then you ask what rights I don't have that I wan't; what happened to Habeas corpus. (GONE) thats what happend. What about the USA Patroit Act. The worst thing Bush as ever done is put the Patroit Act in place. The government can come into your home without a warrant and not tell you when they are arresting you hold you in a cell without any way of getting out unless the say otherwise. (thats were i want Habeas corpus; oh wait its gone.) Also they can trace your phone calls of they want to because they "have evidence" that shows your a "terrorist". Its all about power; thats all he (Bush) wants is power.
Thanks for reading and fell free to add any thoughts. Thanks again
Don't Wait Act Now

single american soldiers wounded in iraq
Submitted on April 3rd, 2008 by Anonymousit would seem to me that all american soldier should be helped if they have the needs, however there is very little help for single wounded soldiers even ones with purple heart w/cluster and the bronze star,, out soldiers go to war to defend our freedom and i believe that the U.S.A. should help them meet there needs when they come home wounded. Why is that not so?

You raise points that are certainly part of the national discussion.
1) US Foreign policy and the execution of the invasion of Iraq.
2) Liberty v. Security in light of US post 9/11 policy.
These issues are complicated, and the state of our nation as it relates to them has evolved over generations.
The greatest danger we face as a people is the continuation of a national discussion crippled by sound bites, partisan platitudes, and tabloid elections.
We are better than that, and you are the key.
Great post, great comments

Two separate items, two fixes.
Submitted on April 1st, 2008 by AnonymousObviously the administration has used Iraq as an excuse to give the government more unrestricted power than ever before - an amazing un-Republican thing to do. They did it anyway. It seems Republicans now stand for more control of citizens, less control of corporations. Obviously this needs to be balanced in the opposite direction, starting with respecting the Geneva convention again as well as environmental standards.
However, we can fix the above problem with Obama or Clinton, but Iraq is a separate problem. Iraq will take decades to stabilize. We broke it, we bought it. I'm sure we can make positive inroads there by actually listening to the generals instead of tasking them with impossible goals with such limited resources.
I'm afraid if we pull out of Iraq it will appear that we can't finish anything, and it will leave the region destabilized. It's been such a blow to our reputation as a country already, but now we need to finish it, and finish it correctly.
