Is Rush Limbaugh in legal trouble again?

Uh oh. The Associated Press reports: "Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is investigating whether any Republicans broke the law when they switched parties in the March 4 presidential primary to back the candidate that they perceived to be a weaker opponent for GOP nominee-in-waiting John McCain."

About 16,000 GOP voters crossed over to vote for Democrats in the primary. Rush Limbaugh, of course, had no small effect encouraging Republicans to cross over, cast their votes for Hillary and create a bit of electoral chaos. Now some sourpusses are wrinkling their noses and scouring the statues for means of retribution.

Well, good luck with that. Limbaugh has about as much chance of being successfully indicted for voter fraud as Ron Paul has of winning the presidency. That said, I wouldn't be so sanguine if I were a Republican cross-over voter in Ohio. Apparantly, pledging bogus allegiance to a political party is a crime. Who knew?

If prosecutors take leave of their senses and reach for the star, Hugh Hewitt, son of Warren, Ohio, and hopeless Cleveland fan, offers his services for the defense. "(Rush) will need a season ticket holder to the Browns if he is to stand a chance with a Cuyahoga County jury," Hewitt writes. "His Steeler inclinations are well known."

Foolish crossover Republicans, however, are on their own.

Update: Hugh says he'll defend the voters, too!
