Gay Bashing and How to Hide Behind the Constitution
Posted 24 weeks 53 min ago byI'm not going to argue the Constitutional Law questions implicit in Rep. Kern's statement that her hate speech is protected under the First Amendment. Leave that to the lawyers. What I do know is that one only has to look at history to see that rhetoric dehumanizing entire groups of people has incited atrocious acts of violence before, and claiming that words have no consequence is simply not true. While Rep. Kern has nowhere near the powerful oratorical talent of someone like Hitler, and is too openly an unintelligent bigot to really get anywhere in this great nation, to claim that her speech is what the Constitution intended to protect - or what her constituents elected her to provide - is disgusting.
And yet, she is enough of a political animal to know that she can cloak her deplorable actions in the Constitution and be shielded. From a recent statement:
"To put this simply, as a Christian I believe homosexuality is not
moral. Obviously, you have the right as an American to choose that
lifestyle, but I also have the right to express my views and my fellow
Oklahomans have the right to debate these issues."
"In recent years homosexual activists have begun to aggressively
promote their agenda through the political process, often providing
substantial financing to candidates who agree with their views,
including many running for state legislative races. National
publications such as Time, The Atlantic and USA Today have noted that
trend. That is their right, just as it is my right to voice opposition
to their agenda, which I have been asked to do at several public
forums in recent months. That's what democracy is all about. It
appears some homosexual activists believe only one group is allowed a
voice in this debate. I disagree."
"A vigorous debate on an issue is not 'hate speech' - it's free
speech. I have made clear my opposition to the agenda of homosexual
activists, but I have never endorsed or supported any hateful action
targeting individuals on the other side of this debate and never will.
The fact that many gay rights activists claim anyone opposing their
agenda is engaging in 'hate speech' says more about them than me.
"Most Oklahomans are socially conservative and believe marriage is a
sacred institution, the union of one man and one woman, and that the
traditional family is worth protecting and preserving. When I
campaigned for office, I promised my constituents to stand up for
those values, and I do not apologize for keeping my word."
Rep. Kern, let me clarify this for you. You were not debating an issue. You were claiming that all homosexuals were worse than the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11. Your words, not mine, m'am. Debate gay marriage. Support a Constitutional amendment for those who feel their fragile straight relationships are threatened by secure gay ones. But do not expect those of us on both sides of this issue to allow you to treat human beings this way. You, Rep. Kern, have made my list of people I will personally seek to expose for the awful excuses for public officials that they really are. You make me sick, and you are a disgrace to this nation.

Thoughts
Nope, not crazy
Submitted on March 15th, 2008 by KansasGirlI don't defend Obama's pastor's speech at all. Never said I did - so let's be factual. What I did say was that political candidates shouldn't be held accountable for the words of all the crazies who happen to glom onto their movements, especially once said candidate has specifically and repeatedly stated that he/she does not agree.
Now, explain to me how what Rep. Kern said - equating gay people with terrorists, among other things - even remotely approaches rational discourse. I agree that many people believe as she does. I agree that these people are not inherently evil, just for thinking that gay people shouldn't be gay. What I don't understand, and where your supposed argument breaks down, is where you and Rep. Kern both think it's okay for elected officials, those we hold up as our representatives, to dehumanize an entire group of people because of something they can't change.
I have a theory, Anonymous. I think you didn't listen to what she actually said, because then you'd know that that WAS hate speech. I think you just read her response that I posted, which cleverly tried to claim that she had been talking about issues instead of people. Rep. Kern was not talking about gay marriage. She was talking about gay people. And what's even more damning? She even says that she could get into a lot of trouble saying these things out loud. If she truly thought that what she was saying was okay, what did she have to fear?
You can have an opinion I disagree with, but no, I'm sorry, you don't get to be a bigot on my watch. Too bad.
Are you crazy?
Submitted on March 14th, 2008 by AnonymousKansasGirl,You defend the vile anti-white,anti American hate speech of Obama's mentor and pastor of 20 years and you classify what Rep.Kern's words as hate speech because she and alot of Americans disagree with gay people having the right to marry?
Gay people would probably have the right to marry if they didn't act so outrageous and claim the poor pitiful me card and I'm being discriminated card everytime someone disagrees with them.
There was a gay pride parade in my town last year. The theme was families and raising children.I was all for that. I do believe gay people can make great parents. They have love in their hearts just like alot of other people have for children. What made me sick to my stomach about the whole parade was, they had the same stupid and inappropiate things going on as most gay pride parades do in front of children.I don't think it was very family oriented to have people dressed up in erotic costumes with huge dildo's hanging out and I don't think it is appropiate at a supposed family event to throw condoms, little packets of sexual lubricant and lollipops, some shaped like dildo's out to the children.
This is the reason why people are so turned off by gay people. They bring this nonsense on themselves by acting in the most outrageous ways they can.Do they really want that kind of attention? Is having a family themed gay pride parade like I described above going to help their cause? NO!
So until they can act civilized in a civilized country, how do they expect to be taken seriously? They put on a freak show ,so they are treated like freaks.
You want free speech for some but whenever someone has a different opinion the are called hate mongers, racists and bigots.
Look in the mirror.
Even more you can do!
Submitted on March 13th, 2008 by AnonymousSeveral Oklahoma colleauges of mine are working right now to recruit a candidate to defeat Rep. Kern in her next election. It's not going to be easy, but as you can see, it's extremely important.
Stay tuned for updates on that, and how you can donate to Rep. Kern's opponent in the next election!
Oh, and one more thing.
