Hillary Clinton: Not so truthful

I know, I know, I know: Politics ain't beanbag. But I still retain enough idealism to be stunned in the face of appalling cynicism:

Sen. Clinton, speaking today at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, argued today that the delegates from Florida and Michigan should be seated, in some form or another.

"If you are a voter from Florida or Michigan, you know that we should count your vote. The nearly two and a half million Americans in those two states who participated in the primary elections are in danger of being excluded from our democratic process and I think that's wrong. The results of those primaries were fair and they should be honored."

Well, that's simply not true.

There was plenty of notice that the results of Michigan and Florida wouldn't count. Clinton was the only candidate on the Democratic ticket in Michigan; the Obama and Edwards campaigns, respecting the wishes of the Democratic National Committee, didn't campaign in either state.

That's fair?

Go revote in Michigan and Florida; I'm fine with that. But the original votes weren't fair -- and it disturbs me that a potential president would try to pretend they were.
