Hillary Clinton: Not so truthful
Posted 25 weeks 3 days ago byI know, I know, I know: Politics ain't beanbag. But I still retain enough idealism to be stunned in the face of appalling cynicism:
Sen. Clinton, speaking today at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, argued today that the delegates from Florida and Michigan should be seated, in some form or another.
"If you are a voter from Florida or Michigan, you know that we should count your vote. The nearly two and a half million Americans in those two states who participated in the primary elections are in danger of being excluded from our democratic process and I think that's wrong. The results of those primaries were fair and they should be honored."
Well, that's simply not true.
There was plenty of notice that the results of Michigan and Florida wouldn't count. Clinton was the only candidate on the Democratic ticket in Michigan; the Obama and Edwards campaigns, respecting the wishes of the Democratic National Committee, didn't campaign in either state.
That's fair?
Go revote in Michigan and Florida; I'm fine with that. But the original votes weren't fair -- and it disturbs me that a potential president would try to pretend they were.

You are a young jerk who believes the world is his/hers for the next eight years, well kiddo it would serve you well if it happens. In 2016 look back and see what you and yours have wrought! The upside-down U.S.A after a vain President and more vain electorate have run the remainder of industery to hell and gone.
I will only add a post script
Submitted on March 13th, 2008 by popaj506In Jessie Jacksons' day intergration had for 2 hundred years been trampled by the white race and very few Blacks were allowed to vote for fear of their lives. Through sport skill superior to whites blacks received schoolerships and entered higher ed. Now enough have furthered their mixing with young higher ed whites and believing enough young whites would join them to give Obama a chance. Bill Clintons' remark about S.C. and Jessie not withstanding, the above is what is happening and there's only US(white folks) to blame. remember South Africa? Could it be what goes around comes around. (shudder, shudder). Then there are back room politicos' spinning everything to look racest but again that's politics.
Statement true,you spin!
Submitted on March 13th, 2008 by popaj506If they are not seeded they have no part in Democratic Party process of choosing Nomanees for their Party. The Courts have ruled Political Partys are same as clubs and any attempt to leave out these voters is most certainly deprivation of democratic participation in that club! P/S/ If you want Mc for President then leave them out , I and many others wont vote democrat if it happens and I am a strait demo voter for over 60 years. (plese don't knock bad spelling)

Submitted on March 13th, 2008 by OtherJoelIt wouldn't be fair for the states/Republicans to pay for the primary, since this would likely be ultimately a taxpayer-funded enterprise. But the Republicans (in Florida, anyway) were largely responsible for moving the primaries forward, and breaking the DNC rules.
I can't remember who, but I do know other parties (in the general, not political, sense) have offered considerable donations to redo the primaries.
I don't know who should pay; I only know that it should not be the DNC. I'm not always their biggest fan, but in this case they were in no way responsible for this mess; they clearly communicated the consequences of the early primaries, and they were ignored.
As for Obama's past, I seriously question the validity of "terrorist" ties, and beyond that -- give me a Presidential candidate without some skeletons in their closet and I have a surf shop in Kansas to sell you. Hillary (and by association, Bill) certainly have their share of shady dealings, and if we were to run a tally, Obama would still look squeaky-clean by comparison, I suspect.
But that's not what I was driving at. There are civil ways to question the weaknesses of your opponent and there are smear campaigns. I see a lot more of the latter from the Clinton camp, and it's getting really tired. Just sayin'.
Why should the states pay for primaries at all?
Submitted on March 13th, 2008 by AnonymousThe votes in that state were not just for the presidential primary, why should Republicans have to pay (via the state) for a DNC primary?
I know..I'm so subtle
Submitted on March 12th, 2008 by sunshine308Ok..if that is your claim.. then let us hear a fair discussion here on Obama then.. talk about his dealing with REZKO, the criminal.. all of them mind you.. for about 18 years... talk about his association with William Ayers and his wife, the terrorists and supporters of Obama, (geez talk about the Chicago mafia!!).. then there is the bigot and racist and hate monger, Farrakahn, Wright the racist minister, ..and how about the top 20 supporters of his campaign to date.. yes.. the lobbyists, the sub prime loan firms that are responsible for so many African Americans losing their homes..or about to.. and on top of that.. he..Obama.. voted for a bill to Protect these scummy firms..not his African American devoted fans and voters.. no.. the rip off artists that made them lose their homes.. nice.. How about any or all of those things.. I will be looking forward to seeing that from you.. thank you..
You got it.
Submitted on March 12th, 2008 by Amy MI thought the exact same thing. FAIR? I better go get my dictionary and look that up.
OH WAIT I forgot, they have their own dictionary. Any body else have a copy? If you do, while you're at it, could you please look up what the definition of "is" is?

Submitted on March 12th, 2008 by JoelSunshine: Are you saying you don't like Obama? You'd been so vague about your preferences.
But I think it's "sliming" only if you lie about or distort a politician's record. I do neither here; I publish her on-the-record remarks and I give my opinion about them. You are free to agree or disagree, but I've hardly "slimed" anybody here.
not so truthful???
Submitted on March 12th, 2008 by sunshine308Joel do you want a dialogue truly on the lies and deceit of Obama?? for goodness sakes let's talk about real issues.. I could write two pages here on the lies of Obama..some of them have already been exposed and other are coming soon.. believe me.. so get off the pot..this is just an attempt at sliming.
Yep
Submitted on March 12th, 2008 by OtherJoelAgreed completely. Both candidates knew those primaries wouldn't count, and at the time, both campaigns were OK with it. I do think it is unfair to the voters that they weren't counted. A re-vote is a fair compromise. I agree with Howard Dean that it isn't the DNC's responsibility to pay for it. That the states expected as much is ridiculous. There's no point in having rules if you are willing to not only tolerate them being broken, much less to pay for the violators to correct them.
At the beginning of primary season, I was genuinely conflicted between Obama and Clinton. But the Clinton campaign has become increasingly about cheap shots and whining. Now I am firmly on Obama's side. For my vote, Clinton has been Obama's best campaign asset.
