Racism in Post Racial America- Keesha's Opinion
Posted 32 weeks 1 day ago byI read the the article: " Racism in Post Racial America". I fully agree with the author. The word "post racial" is just a cover up. Its like accidently cutting off you pinkie finger and instead of going to the hospital you put a bandaid on it. We all know the bandaid won't work. I also fear that my race (African Americans) has fallen into the trap of the same stereo-types White American believe. I've never said this before but you are what you watch. Name twenty times that you have seen a successful African American on television that was acting? Did you know that BET is not run by our race? What does that say to you? There is nothing productive on that channel but yet we watch it. Yet again we choose to believe what is easy and walk the confortable path. But don't they say nothing comes easy?

Successful Black Actors
Submitted on February 28th, 2008 by AnonymousIn no particular order from non-BET shows, that are on TV now (which leaves out oldie but goodies like Cosby and Jefferson).
Bernie Mac (Bernie Mac Show)
Chris Rock (Everybody Hates Chris)
Dennis Haysbert, President, (24)
Ice-T, Cop, (Law & Order)
Donald Faison, Doctor, (Scrubs)
Isaiah Washington, World Famous Surgeon (Grey's Anatomy)
Chandra Wilson, Doctor, Chief of Surgery, (Grey's Anatomy)
James Pickens Jr., Chief of Surgery, (Grey's Anatomy)
Tracy Morgan, 30 Rock
and the list goes on...
But I agree, we need to see more mix on TV. More blacks, Indian/Pakistani, Asians, Arabs and other ethnicities that make up this glorious melting pot of a nation.
Interesting thoughts.
Submitted on February 28th, 2008 by AnonymousWhat does it say to the point that there is even a BET? Is it possible to have a White Entertainment Television? Don't you think the fact that we keep re-inforcing stereotypes only perpetuates stereotypes. Doesn't highlighting and emphasizing the division only reinforce the division?

There is programming out there created by everybody, why can't we just mix it up on all the networks?
