How McCain and GOP can attack Obama
Posted 27 weeks 4 days ago byHere are a few ways McCain can can go at Obama.
Time's Mark Halpirn writes:
Things McCain can do when running against Obama that Clinton has been unable to do well or at all:
1. Play the national security card without hesitation.
2. Talk about the Iraq War without apologies or perceived contradiction.
3. Go at Obama unambiguously from the right.
4. Encourage interest groups, bloggers, and right-leaning media to explore Obama’s past.
5. Make an issue of Obama’s acknowledged drug use.
6. Allow some supporters to risk being accused of using the race card when criticizing Obama.
7. Exploit Michelle Obama’s mistakes and address her controversial remarks with unrestricted censure.
8. Play dirty without alienating his party.
9. Dismiss Obama’s brief national tenure from his own lofty platform of decades in the Senate – there will be no ambiguity about who has more experience as conventionally defined.
10. Use his sterling war record to reinforce his image of patriotism and valor – and contrast it with his opponent’s.
11. Emphasize Barack Hussein Obama’s unusual name and exotic background through a Manchurian Candidate prism.

Submitted on February 27th, 2008 by oldgoatThis ought to be funny. The right doesn't like McCain so many say they will vote Dem against him. Now if Hillary doesn't get the nomination I guess the left will return the favor and vote for McCain. Somewhere in those lines of though there has to be some logical thinking, but offhand I can't find it.

The only thing to fear is fear itself
Submitted on February 26th, 2008 by Reality checkHere are all the reasons I disagree with you and others who are hiding behind fear and will not come straight out and say it.
1. National security under McCain and others in Congress is really obsolete right now. America's short attention span has now moved on. The fear tactic worked for the 2004 election, let's move on.
2. Talk about Iraq! Our children and great-great children will continue to pay for that war in more ways than one. War is not a normal state of being. It should only be a necessary state of being.
3. The right is not all wrong just the same as it is not all "right." The "right" way of thinking has gotten us into the decades of mess that we're in now.
4. Careful what you wish for. I don't think any politician is completely innocent. They all have skeletons in their closet and McCain has the opportunity to have more because of his long history in the Senate.
5. Now the drug use I might agree with you because I think pass drug use may have affected GW Bush's way of thinking. Maybe someone can do some research to determine the number of politicians in America that use or have used drugs and how it has affected their judgment. The war on drugs has been going on longer than the Iraq war.
6. Politics as usual. When criticizing just stick to the issues and try not to let your good ol boy way of life show too much. Those days are slowing going away, but I understand that some people just don't want to let it die.
7. Michelle is not running for the White House. STICK TO THE ISSUES!!!!
8. Play dirty but stick to the issues. Good ol boy is just waiting to come out. Continue to play dirty. That's what Congress has done for years and has accomplished nothing, especially in the past 8 years.
9. Obama is part of a movement. Americans are sick and tired of politics as usual. That is why millions are joining him. I think McCain's long tenure may backfire in the end. Plus Obama can play the age card. Oh that's against the law. The American's with Disabilities Act right.
10. I do honor McCain's war record but he thinks that war is a natural state of being and it's not. You don't have to fight in a war to honor your country. But if you want, you can have that one.
11. What's with the name jokes? Fear is what it's all about. Because he does not have a traditional WASP name does not make him inferior. That is crap. Stick to the issues. His name has nothing to do with it. Is Hussein going down in history as the most feared name in America? We're supposed to be more powerful than that. Stop teaching and spreading fear. If it makes you feel better, just call him Barack H. Obama.
McCain needs to rally his base before he tries to take out Obama. You guys are running scared in more ways than one and it's noticeable.

Halperin's list
Submitted on February 26th, 2008 by BenIt's worth noting that Mark Halperin is no conservative. So his list is problematic, to say the least. It's also worth noting that one man's "attack" is another man's garden-variety campaign. All of that said, I agree with 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10.
Why 8? Because you better believe Obama will do the same. But the others -- especially 1, 2, 9 and 10 -- are more important. Maybe the most important.
