New York will tax facelifts
Posted 29 weeks 4 days ago byNew York City has found a way to balance its budget:
Among the more intriguing proposals is a new tax on cosmetic procedures, i.e. face-lifts, chemical peels and dermabrasions, which would generate $65 million annually. However, the report notes there will be opposition from those who see such treatments not as luxuries but as "vital to improving self-esteem and general quality of life."
Somehow, I don't think we could raise $65 million from a facelift tax in Kansas. But for New York: Wonderful idea.
And just because I can: You don't want to click on this site. Seriously. You'll just hate me. Don't do it.

Just Say No To Cosmetic Solutions For Overspending
Submitted on February 13th, 2008 by Chuck_JohnsonUpon first glance, the tax facelift problem seems like a good idea: hey, we can stick the rich and balance the budget.
If only it were that way.
What will happen with a cosmetic tax will be that you'll either
1)drive the fledging small cosmetic shops out of business (after all the larger corporations won't take a hit and will welcome less competition.)
2) create new business opportunities right outside of city limits. After all, nowhere is it written that you can't have your facelift in Jersey.
Just ask some of Tony Soprano's "friends."

I'll bite...
