Declaration of Independence -- better than the National Anthem!
Posted 48 weeks 1 day ago byI didn't even watch the Superbowl (yes, I'm a heretic in that way) but I'm sorry I missed the video reading of the Declaration of Independence. I don't think there is anything contrived in the reading of it or any implication suggested that those who don't support the war are less than patriotic. On the other hand, those who don't support the Declaration ARE less than patriotic. THAT, at least, ought to be clear. We may disagree about many things and walk away from a reading of the Declaration with different understandings about how its principles can be put into practice . . . but to think that it ought not to be read or used as the starting place for all political discussion is to fundamentally misunderstand the nature of our Republic.

Declaration of Independence
Submitted on February 8th, 2008 by musicman48Too bad... most kids who graduate from highschool know very little about the our most revered national documents... and even fewer know anything about the writings of Thomas Jefferson concerning a tyrannical government... what other reason could there be for the people of this nation to accept the unconstitutional decrees handid down by our government.
I think the next Superbowl attendees should each be given a copy of our constitution.
Get down with the Founding
