Bob Knight retires: A bully leaves the limelight
Posted 41 weeks 1 day ago byBobby Knight is retiring from college basketball.
Knight's defenders always note that he kept his nose clean with the NCAA and that he graduated his kids on time -- and true, in the sordid world of big-time college athletics, doing what you're supposed to do is something of an achievement.
However:
You can obey the rules and still be a colossal jerk.
You can obey the rules and still be a poor sport.
You can obey the rules and still be a raging, narcissistic bully.
That's what Bob Knight was: A bully. And as it happens, I don't like bullies very much.
I don't know Bobby Knight in his private life, and I don't actually care what he's like in it -- he might be the sweetest grandfather in the world, for all I know. What's clear is that in his public life, he always demanded respect and rarely gave it. I'm glad he's leaving the limelight.

Stop picking on my main man!
Submitted on February 5th, 2008 by The Big KlosowskiHe only left because TTU decided to nail down all the chairs in the arena.
Seriously, lets not forget that he had the highest graduating rate of student athletes of almost any coach. True he had little patience (that could be a major understatement), but the media made more out of it than what it really was.
Take a look at the comments from those who knew him. and you will see a very different person.
It will also be a major loss to TTU, as he was the most successful fundraiser for the University by a long way.
