Ann Coulter endorses Hillary Clinton (Updated)
Posted 29 weeks 5 days ago byAnn Coulter, God bless 'er, knows how to kick up controversy. Ann Coulter loves controversy. She wallows in it.
Coulter doesn't particularly care for John McCain . Neither do I. But I'm not prepared to go as far as she did and endorse Hillary Clinton. "I would campaign for her if it's McCain," she says.
Seriously? Seriously.* Oh, boy.
Coulter thinks Clinton would be fine on the war. Maybe she would be. But does Coulter really think sociaized medicine, higher taxes and a decidedly more liberal judiciary (for starters) would be worth the trade-off?
It's a nice stunt for Ann, I guess. Good for book sales, perhaps. But that's about all it is.
Update: Hugh Hewitt, who is whole-hog for Romney, chides Ann for being silly. "If Ann Coulter's (sic) declares again that she'd campaign for Hillary at CPAC, she will be booed and rightly so. Not only did her grandstanding on Hannity & Colmes divert attention from the real issue before conservatives -- the need to abandon the idea of voting for Huckabee or Paul and rally to Romney -- she further fractures an already deeply divided GOP."
Update 2: * Well, as seriously as Ann can be. See the comments, below.
Update 3: Captain Ed wonders if Ann Coulter "jumped the shark" with this stunt. A couple of comments about that. First, let's banish "jump the shark." Second, the Captain answers his own question with "She did for me last year at CPAC, of course, when she derided John Edwards as a 'faggot.'" That recently, Ed? My monkey friends and I read her out of the movement years ago, for all the good it did. Third, Ed Morrissey is right: "It appears Coulter hates McCain more than she cares about conservative values. She has acquired McCain Derangement Syndrome, and is rather obviously unbalanced by it. Sean Hannity was clearly embarrassed to listen to this tirade, and Coulter should have been embarrassed to have indulged in it."
Why am I belaboring this? Joel thinks Coulter is just a provocateur and this is all a bunch of hooey. Yeah, that's right. But maybe conservatives can rid themselves of this irritating woman once and for all. Here's hoping.

BTW, where's Michael Moore? Is his low profile during the election part of the left's strategery?

Submitted on February 1st, 2008 by Cycle_GeezerYou say provocateur, I say opportunist. She senses the end of her run as conservative pinup and longs to jump, not the shark, but the fence. Look for her next book, If Republicans had any brains, they wouldn't have nominated McCain. Soon she'll be appearing on Hannity and Coulter as the liberal, and poor Alan Colmes will be forced to be Glenn Beck's foil.
Provoke her right out of the movement!

Re: A successful provocateur
Submitted on February 1st, 2008 by JoelYes, but I think part of the reason she's a hit with activists is because she makes those derned Democrats so mad. If people on my side of the aisle would just refuse to be provoked, I think her appeal on your side of the aisle would be greatly reduced.
Sort of the same reason Michael Moore has a job, no?
A successful provocateur
Submitted on February 1st, 2008 by BenYou and I might not take her seriously. But activists love her.
Coulter isn't serious, but she makes some good points
Submitted on February 1st, 2008 by Jim LakelyOf course she's not going to vote for Hillary -- not that anyone should really care who she votes for. But in her column this week, which Coulter basically spoke outloud in that segment, she makes some good points about McCain -- especially his blatant and dishonorable lying about his Republican opponents:
Then there is his dishonest attack on Rudy:
Ann's rhetoric is over the top, but her facts are secure.
No, not seriously
