Obama needs the Latino vote

I believe the Latino community's support of Hillary Clinton is the one thing standing in the way of Barack Obama becoming the Democratic party's nominee.

Within this demographic, Clinton outnumbers Obama in voters nearly 2:1. States with large populations of Latinos, like Nevada and Florida, are the states where he has proven the weakest. Time is running out and Obama needs to reach out to this community and give them a few reasons he would be a better candidate for them than the New York Senator.

The endorsement of Ted Kennedy might help him get this message across. The Kennedys resonate with the Latino community and the Senator's presence in California is a step in the right direction. But, personally, I think Obama needs to steer some of his discussions in the next few days towards issues that are central to Latino voters, namely immigration and Spanish language education.

I recently saw Obama speak in Kansas City and there is no doubt he speaks to the heart and soul of the African American community and beyond. Here is a candidate who can stand for women and minorities from all over the spectrum. It's time he lets the country know this.
