RedBlue Podcast: Instapundit wants to go to space
Posted 49 weeks 1 day ago byGlenn Reynolds hasn't signed up for his Virgin Galactic tour of space -- yet. But that's not to say he isn't interested.
"At 200-grand it's still a little pricey for me," he told us for our inaugural edition of the RedBlueAmerica.com podcast. "I'm hoping either that will come down or that I can prevail upon the Popular Mechanics folks to send me."
Reynolds, a law professor at the University of Tennessee, is best known to the world as Instapundit, one of the earliest and most prominent members of the blogosphere. But his activities range far and wide, into music, science and technology. And he expects private industry might someday lead the exploration of space.
"If you read the old science fiction from the '40s and even into the '50s, the assumption always seemed to be it would in fact be private industry leading the way in space, and not government," he said.
