Edwards for Attorney General?

Good. God. No.
A slimy ambulance chaser who considers the war illegal and immoral as America's top prosecutor? I can just imagine his performance, if he employed some of his most lucrative trial tricks. Channeling the spirit of dead terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi to argue against "mistreatment" of enemy combatants at Gitmo? Would he sue American oil companies by giving voice to silent polar bears? Will Dick Cheney be brought up on charges of attempted homicide for his birdshot incident?
There could hardly be a worse choice, especially considering Democratic howls that the Bush administration "politicized" the Justice Department. There's a big difference between a partisan friend getting the post -- ala Alberto Gonzalez or John Ashcroft -- and a hyper-partisan like Edwards having control of America's federal law-enforcement.
As John Hinderaker at Powerline notes, the only worse cabinet pick might be Dennis Kucinich as Secretary of Defense (or, in my view, John Edwards for the Supreme Court). I'm not quite sure, though, that John's right about this news amounting to a reason to vote for Hillary.
Hillary's the's the one, after all, who gave us Janet Reno -- the architect of the Waco and Elian Gonzales debacles.
