Economy
Posted 50 weeks 4 days ago byTodays economy is likely to stay the way it is for quite some time. A lot of businesses have moved out of this country and the tarriffs on imports are way too low. The chairman of the Federal Reserve asked for people to spend their rebates[ propose dby Pres. Bush] on goods made in America. I have tried buying American made and it is almost impossible to find any.

Products made abroad are affordable
Submitted on January 20th, 2008 by Another skepticMillions of Americans are living better and more fulfilling lives because they can buy lower-priced, foreign-made goods at Wal Mart, Kohls, Target, Sears and about any shop you know.
Yes, people have lost jobs, and unions have lost dues-paying members, but consumers have benefited.
There are many times more people benefiting from free trade than are being hurt by it.
While you can't buy "American Made" much any more, you still are buying "American designed" and "American sold."
There are many more merchants and national chains in many more malls than even 10 years ago, employing millions of people.
By far, free trade is good for America.
Why is it so difficult to buy American made?
Submitted on January 20th, 2008 by The Big KlosowskiI agree with you completely that it is next to impossible to find American made goods. If you want anything electronic - it's from China, Japan, or Korea.
Clothing, shoes, and most furniture, forget about it. Even most of my produce that I buy seems to come from other countries.
Do you think this will begin to tip back into the US's favor with the sinking buying power of the dollar? I've already seen the price of european autos and other goods rise 10% or more this year alone.
It will get worse
Submitted on January 20th, 2008 by outlawvrodThe economy will not stay the same, it is going to get worse for the next year or two. Too many factors have been ignored by our law makers to turn it around with a drop in the bucket tax rebate or an extension of unemployment benefits.
Seems the word Recession is "politically incorrect" these days.
Wake Up America were headed for some hard times unless fundamental changes are made and made very fast.
